Oh boy, this sling is breaking 2" now. It's definitely a versicolor but stil very very black. The blue coloration is very subtle. Perhaps I will take pictures this week. The USB cameras are all over, do a google search. They're pretty cool. I use them at work to measure dimensions down to...
I've been thinking of getting a GBB so I can watch it web like crazy. How's the disposition of yours, slow and sweet or fast and crazy? The exotics expo in northwest chicago is coming up in a week or two and I'd really like to pick up a terrestrial. I found a really nice acrylic case at a...
you may wish to keep them isolated for a short time to make sure they haven't gotten into any pesticide... a week maybe? I'm not to sure but I would assume any pesticide would kill them off after a week. Might have trouble keeping them around if your T gets hungry for a light snack though...
all right, thanks. Sounds more complicated than I'd like. I'll Just mail order for now. I can always look into it again when I need adults, but a dozen nymphs every couple weeks should be cheap enough.
Let me preface this post with one thing: I hate crickets.
I cannot stand the damn things. They are smelly, they are noisy, they are dirty, and they are just plain stupid. I love to feed them to my T's cause they suck so bad.
I would really like to switch from Crickets to dubias, seeing...
awesome. I love "Bluey". Family pets always seem to get the best names cause little kids get to name them. I once had a cat named "master splinter" we just called him splint. My neighbors had a pot bellied pig named "Bacon". lmao they rocked.
My 49 year old mother just named my .5 inch Avicularia versicolor "Charlotte" after Charlottes' Web. A couple of years ago she named my Ball Python "Fuzzy". My mother is an awesome woman. That is all.
^^
Cool I'll leave the dubia in there then. My other Versicolor molted this morning and now my ball python is about to shed. Apparently everyone is on the same schedule lol.
Yeah I can't wait. Every time I see a picture of one of the goofy blue fuzzballs it brings a smile to my face. My 1" is starting to show a lot of blue hues, I'm hoping it really comes out in the next molt or two.
oh wow that would be cool... My other versicolor is in pre-molt and his sibling (owned by a friend) just finished molting. Maybe the two will molt simultaneously! The legs on the 1/2" sling are still pretty clear, but someone said that avics don't always darken up before a molt... can anyone...
+1 for the space heater. I use a $50 oil filled heater from the hardware store and a $5 exo-terra thermometer to keep my room just a touch over 70. I live in a drafty old apartment and this setup keeps me and my T's happy all winter long. If I feel like a little fresh air I can even bump up...
Hello everyone.
I just got a new versicolor sling from Jamie yesterday and I've noticed something funny. When I first had him in the vial he came in, he kept falling to the bottom when it would get moved. There were water droplets on the sides so I didn't think much of it. Now he's been...
Lmao. My mom has named mine Fuzzy. He now only drinks bottled spring water, he has his own humidifier, and I am forced to change his bedding bi-weekly. Damn snake lives better than I do! Oh also if I don't bury his hide "just the way he likes it" then she nags me until I redo it.
Hang in there my friend. When i was younger my mom and dad wouldn't even let me have so much as a guinea pig. Now I'm 30 and my mom lives in MY house. She got used to my 4ft ball python and now treats it like it's her cat... she scolds me if she thinks the snake looks hungry lol. She still...
I took the cricket out, it was uneaten when I got home this afternoon. As the sling hasn't eaten in over a week I'm hoping it is in pre-molt and hasn't gone off its food for another reason. As I was taking the cricket out I noticed another small cricket had died behind a piece of glued-in...
Thank you for the replies, I feel much better about leaving the cricket in the enclosure now. I always worry about mold with my versicolor, the humidity is like mold-steroids =/
