They are all fishing spiders. Is that the same spider in all pictures? Doesn't look like it. Last image is definitely Dolomedes albineus, as it has curled hair.
My best eater is a Brazilian Black. That thing has the meanest attitude too. Only T I own that never runs. If I try and move him with tongs by tapping his butt he puts his front legs up and tries to flip around and strike. When he is eating he is eating. I can put 20 crickets in the cage and he...
Nope. Had eaten and drank quite a bit since I found it though. Has 4 hairless scratches on abdomen everything else fine. I looked at it under 10x magnification and the cat scratches didn't break the abdominal skin.
I use cinnamon. I don't trust pesticides to much. Cinnamon does the trick for ants and spiders though, neither of them can breath around it so they will leave or not come near where cinnamon is laid. The ants actually mark it as a poison I believe, so it works real well with them. I sprinkle a...
I tried that first and the results were really not so good. Figured I'd throw this up. I'm trying to raise money for a new microscope. I'll add ya and If I find out what the geroldi sex is or worth I'll let ya know! It has a real nice deep blue abdomen with an almost aqua/metallic/teal kinda...
Thanks. Darn, was really hoping the P miranda female would be worth a little more, she is gorgeous. Might just have to hang onto her if that's all she's worth.
Hello-
If this is the wrong place to post this question please move it =)
I'm hoping to find out what some of my T's might be worth if I was to sell them.
Avicularia geroldi - 4' unsexed (survived a cat attack, left scar on cats nose. Survived 40 days in my bedroom hidden (i thought cat ate...
As the title says, I'm looking for some good US beetle vendors, and having trouble finding them. Just to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:
Pachnoda (butana, marginata, alluaudi, pretty much any pachnoda)
Dynastes Hercules Hercules
Goliathus Preissi
Megasoma elephas and acteon...
Mimetidae (pirate spiders). Amazing to see them spend days stalking a larger spiders web. Never saw an attack though, just the aftermath.
A lot of Haplogynes are very odd and interesting such as Scytodidae, Sicariidae, Filistatidae, Dysderidae (someone already mentioned this one) and...
Having bred and raised many Ummidia sp. I can verify that is what you most likely have there.
Impossible to be certain from these images however, a number of native NA mygalids start out red bodied with dark rumps. If you got a clear image (preferably lateral) of leg pair lll I could tell you...
Depends the spider. Usually though my cat either eats it or I capture and feed to one of my T's. If it's a cobweb spider minding his business I leave him to do his business. Ground spiders and wandering males get to become a meal.
It is a female and male common house spider (Parasteatoda tepidariorum)
It looks like the female is eating the male in the second image, which is common. They will chase off or eat males till they find one they like, then they cohabitat the web and mate several times.
Its Clubiona, disregard similarities in the opisthosoma and prosoma; those aren't chevrons, they are layers of setae. here is another example http://bugguide.net/node/view/387592/bgimage
For north American species, Elaver all have even length anterior and posterior spinnerets, this spider has...
