There is ventilation on the sides + on the lid, the condensation between the soil and the side of the cups, is the moisture in the soil, it will be there even then the top of the soil is dry, basically i have holes on each side, wich sits above the soil and i have some in the bottom that...
i use these for all my Haplopelma slings : http://www.creeps4you.dk/product_info.php?cPath=80_27&products_id=524
i make cross ventilation on the sides thats above the soil and a couple of holes in the lid aswell, works fine for me :)
i water them a bit when i dont see any condensation on the...
i started as many others with a G. rosea around 20 years ago or so, after a year or so i got me an AF P. regalis, after that some Avic's and a H. lividum it just took off from there.
I have lost molting slings to phorid/scuttle flies/maggots, so they are definately a threat to them if they are in molt, but if they arent i believe they will most likely eat them (if small enough), biggest problem with them is that they are tiny and get through most insect mesh screens and...
Jumping spiders are hands down the most intelligent arachnids, just look at something like Portia sp.
my favorites of the ones i have are my pet holes ;)
Haplo's and Liphistius
but i do really like most OW's :)
theres no such thing as too much dirt/substrate for a burrower, well maybe if you completely fill the container up so theres no air for it, but otherwise my experience (with Haplo's) is that they will usually dig to the bottom in most cases, regardless of them having 8" or 15"
drowning roaches...
the black/dark "scaps" makes it look like a burn or sore, but the light gooey stuff does look fungus like, im not sure how F10 or VirkonS affects inverts, but if you dont want to wait until she molts, id suggest a very mild solution of that on a cottonswap and try rub it with it, both are used...
Heres how i house some of my Haplo's and Liphistius
and the lady inhabiting the burrow ;)
She is a beast btw, not in the sense of size but in attitude ;)
Just to prove that bans do happend, here in Denmark this is the list of inverts that are forbidden.
Centipedes (Chilopoda):
Scholopendra gigantea and Scholopendra heros.
Scorpions (Scorpiones):
Androctonus spp., Buthus spp., Centruroides spp., Tityus spp., Hottentotta spp., Leiurus spp...
But isnt that the purpose of a critterchat named ARACHNO chat, that its to speak of arachnids? critterchat i guess any critter falls into the category ;)
my LP flicks her hairs but at a delay, i can clean her dish and remove her "trash", hell i can even nudge her to move her out of the way, its first when i take out my hands and close her enclosure she starts to flick her hairs :)
im not sure how T's would react to it, if they react at all, but you could soak driftwood in a VirkonS or F10 solution and let it dry up, its anti fungal and bacterial solutions used on farms and vets, might just have to test how spiders reacts to it.
Most T's get brighter/stronger colors and a fresh new set of hairs, so if she looks alot more "colorfull" and fuzzier then she most likely have molted and she most likely wont come out until her "new suit" is hardened and shes ready to eat :) some individuals move their molt out of their hides...
Phorid flies usually eat dead plant material, but they will actually go for anything dead, planty even feces from various animals, the flies them selves i dont think they attack a molting spider, but the maggots will if they cross its path, if i find them in any of my enclosures that arent my...
Pictures usually helps alot ;) there can be a variety of tiny critters living in the substrate, most of them are quite harmless and will function as cleanup crews, if its maggots/flies id try get rid of them because then its most likely phorid flies / hunchback flies, and they can kill your...
a day/night cycle shouldnt have any negative effect, if any effect it would be positive since they also have a natural day/night cycle in nature and are wired to live as such, usually the light from a window is enough, but since there are no windows in your T room it there should be added light...
