    First what type of T do you have and what size? I would not recommend using a heat lamp because it could get to hot for the T or you could forget to turn it off and you would have cooked T. but T can not detect the infrared light Omar

    well i tried it but for some of my T it did not work becasue for the ones that need humi i tape some of the lid butwith the sun shining on the cages it increases the temp and the humi so i did not know if too humi was good so instead i used a uv light but that is just me.

    Heat mat issues

    i thought the same way as u smof that a bigger tank is better but it is not, i keep my B. smit that is 4.5" in a 2.5 gal and it is doing better then when i had her in a 20gal. In the smaller tank you could better regulat the temp and humid.

    B. smithi heating question

    well i had a B. smithi spiderling and i did not have the modern center air system so my room was always cooler. The heater was in the living room and i kept my spider in my room which had a temp of mid 70 and my B. smithi did just find and know she is about 4.5inch and still growing.

    i have a male OBT and every time i get the water dish it runs into it's home of webbing it made. I think you should get one you will be fine as long as you be careful and use common sense
