    Baby Rhinos!

Mine have never shown an interest in dog food. I've never seen them eat fish food either. Only hardwood leaves, twigs, and apples. They also eat the wet paper towels and toilet paper I keep in their enclosures to provide moisture.

    M. rhino nymphs starting first moults.

I've tried counting them a few times and lost count after twenty. I've really been trying to be hands off with them to make sure they do well. Since I haven't lost any, I'll get a serious count as soon as they harden up a bit after this moult.

    Babies born today!

They went from the clear white/yellow that you see in the pics I took a few hours after they were born and now are the gray hue that most roach nymphs take on. They still have not molted.

    Babies born today!

I am going to give it a few days before I go rooting around. I don't know how many there are at this point. Quite a few, I'd guess more than twenty, they are all over the enclosure but seem to mob together under the mother mostly. They are starting to darken today.

    Babies born today!

I keep them in a dark closet. They dig up the substrate a little, but nothing that would suggest they are stressed.

    Babies born today!

I have them setup in a plastic drawer system with minimal airflow to maintain humidity. The substrate is about 1 inch deep and is a mixture of old oak compost and sand. I keep one side moist with a wet paper towel or toilet paper the other side is completely dry. I feed them dead dry maple tree...

Do pill bugs and woodlice interfere with AGB mating?

I have a pair of adult Afriacan giant blacks and have witnessed them mating multiple times. It's been almost a year and no sign of babies. My tank also has a healthy population of pill bugs and woodlice. Can these guys be interfering with my breeding pair?

    P. subfusca

No pic can ever do this species justice. They are a must for every collection. Mine is an adult female, super calm with deep purple highlights. Worth every cent.

    Nothing prepared me.

I totally agree with you in that it was probably a bad idea stirring the little guy up. It was obvious that it had just recently molted through the change in size. I need to be more careful in the future and realize that I am lucky that I didn't go in a few days earlier. Thanks.

    Nothing prepared me.

I'll see what happens with the little guy. I have it in a taller screw top container and it settled right in. If I get anything it's going to have to be a pedeling so I can get used to it as it grows. I see why people like these, it's like owning a monster.
