    M. balfouri molt My unsexed balfouri molted today and remains unsexed. I think it's colored like a male, but that's not saying much. Maybe it's colors will fade a little and it'll look a little more like a female in the next week or so. The exuvium was too mangled to sex. Here's a blurry...

    How to Handle Baboon Tarantulas

I think baboons are talked up like pit bulls, they're not so bad. For my baboons, once established in their enclosure they never really try to escape, but rather retreat to their burrow or web tunnel. They're fast, but not uncontrollable. Changing substrate or rehousing them is where it gets a...

    MB623's T Pics

I love baboons. OBT and H. mac were my 2nd and 3rd t's. OW's never really bothered me, not to say they don't make me nervous from time to time. A little caution and patience goes a long way.

    Pepsis formosa Lunch

The one pictured here is only 1.75in (4.5cm) in body length an 2.75in (7cm) DLS. I'm not sure how you measure wasps. The other one I have is smaller. A 3in specimen would be incredible. I thought about sacrificing an old MM, but it would be kinda hard to bring myself to do it.

    Pepsis formosa Lunch

I forgot the males couldn't sting. It would still be kinda intimidating to hold a male. I wonder what a bite from one feels like, they have quite a set of mandibles and tear through grapes like nothing.

    Pepsis formosa Lunch

My brother saw one fly by and land on the ground just a few feet away just as we were about to cross a creek. I knelt down next to the creek to get a catch cup out of our bag and when I turned my head to look for a cup I saw this one drinking out of a flooded hoof print from a wild cow. I...

    Pepsis formosa Lunch

I'm keeping the ones I collected. I'm gonna house them in 10 gallon (38L) tanks with deep substrate for them to burrow. The bigger one started kicking dirt around her temp enclosure, so I'm rehousing them tonight. I still need to get pics of the other one. I haven't seen any mexicana nor black...

    Pepsis formosa Lunch

Just wanted to post a pic of a P. formosa I caught outside Wickenburg chowing down on a grape. As scary as these things look and the sting they can pack they're remarkably calm and rarely fly. There's a lot these guys down there and I collected two within 5ft (1.5m) of eachother.

    Arizona invert group

Wickenburg is some nice hunting/hiking. I see lots of stuff everytime I go, but haven't collected much of anything down there, just a couple slings and a tailess whip scorpion.

Sound cool, I know it's been discused before. It seems like everyone lives in the East valley though. I live in the NW valley and hike the White Tank Mts. and around Wickenburg quite often. I don't really know many people who do the whole hiking thing, especially with the heat out here now.
