WOOOOOOW...so no vaseline then haha! Just to confirm, I have never, nor do I ever intend to use vaseline in my Tarantula cages, but I have seen comments on it before (couldn't find any sorry!).
Reading through all the threads and posts, some items pop up regularily with regard to Tarantula maintanence, and I got to thinking...what types of items would be included in the essential Tarantula keepers kit? for example, cornstarch is evidently used to stop "leaking" if limbs are lost, or...
Used to give my slings hides, and one day I was sure my B. Smithi sling had escaped, couldnt find it anywhere...after a good 15mins of inspecting the cork bark hide I had given it, I noticed a tiny crack, which looked impossible, even for a sling, to squeeze into. After a further 30mins of...
These pics are AWESOME!!! Your Versicolor looks Brill Mako16, and what is the T in equuskat's (Kate?) 3rd pic?
Might upload My holding pics later, but their nothing to brag about, 1 G. Rosea, and 3 slings!
Thanks
Daniel
Amen to FLAmoeba...I expected my A. Versi sling to burrow (as I hear most slings do), but i'd barely got the lid on its tub before it web the crap out of the place.
I expected my B. Smithi to settle right in, cool as you like, but no. Seems to be the most skittish, and the only one that hasnt...
Amen to that! Last week i got my first 3 slings from TSS, delivered next day as promised, everything alive and working (equipment)! Will probably get the rest of my oders from them....if they can supply it!
I recommend super glue anyway....and to prevent your T climbing further put vaseline around the sides of the enclosure, about 3 inches from the bottom, and most of the way up the sides.
Hope this helps!
+1 with everyone else here!
Not quite a fear of spiders, but I couldn't bring myself to touch them.
Decided to get a T to combat that and it worked well (though it could very easily have went the other way)!
I am now completely fascinated by them, and constantly want more, to see what...
*facepalm*...you think thats bad....one day I found my brother freaking out in the living room beacuse he had lost the snake...after 5 mins of frantic searching he turned to me and shrugged, at which point i noticed the he had the snake wrapped snuggly around his neck...idiot
With regard to...
hmmm.....your boss needs to do a little bit of reading haha! any idea what you are going to do about the respiratory problem? Thankfully, i've had no problems with mine, and it's been 4 years....Amel is soo nice imo! Simple, bright and cheap!
What substrate is/was he on too? I've heard...
Just a question, (sorry to divert from OP). I've heard a lot about using vaseline to prevent T's climbing the cage and escaping from top-opening lids. Do T's just straight not climb on vaseline, or is it just a precautionary measure to help decrease the chances of T's climbing the cage?
I...
