Yea both of my GBBs have pretty awesome webs and were built in hours. The other one not pictured did something unexpected and did a little burrowing with its web, even drug a bunch of substrate over both openings to close it up for a molt.
I have been away from the forum for a long time and I have recently done some rehousing and thought I'd share...
I picked up two enclosures from the reptile super show for my two GBBs and made my own enclosures for my Versi pair... and a fresh look at the G. pulchra... Hope you like them...
Wow, thanks! I have to say that is the most credible piece of info on the topic I have seen. I hope you didn't take my comment as an attack on you either, it was a little incident from the past.
I will still say, using natural sand, for a sandy species, could not be the worst thing for the T...
I agree with you.
Pending the species and the ability to control moisture and bacteria issues. I just don't get how people seem to want to shame someone for it because they heard some rumor about it being bad without any proof.
Oh here we go again with the sand...
I'm not going to tell you to use or not to use sand, but do some research of your own before deciding to tear up you new enclosure to remove a trace amount of sand.
FYI GBBs live naturally in a sand environment in Venezuela. There are some downsides to...
Ha ha, no one is going to raid your home for purchasing a lighting setup, people get raided for drawing attention with customers and getting ratted out, besides who cares if they come knocking on your door, unless your "growing"(if you were, you wouldn't need to be asking about lighting, you...
standard T4s and T12s will do for seedlings, but mature plants you will need something a little more expensive. In CA we have a lot of hydroponic shops for growing vegetables(weed) and they sell a lot of indoor growing equipment, If you don't have these shops in your area, take a look online at...
I can't tell you the best but I'll tell you what worked for me...
Ideally, you can fit the old enclosure inside the new enclosure and let the T come out on its own then carefully remove the old enclosure. Considering the species you may have to do some coaxing to get the OBT out of its home...
Sorry I misread that other post for a kid with a bad attitude, I get, you miss your roots, that probably has a lot to do with why I like SD so much.
I also enjoy having 4 seasons, and Love getting outdoors, another perk of San Diego, within an hour from downtown there is so much rollin in the...
Are you kidding? we get a week or two of "high heat and humidity" a year and your complaining. Southern CA is known to have some of the best climate in the world. And I call BS on the no a/c! At worst, your school doesn't have a/c cause it doesn't need it 95% of the time. I'm not trying to...
Now that's a professor answer! Sounds pretty good, I wonder though... and I'm sure it would differ with species, not to mention each sac, but if you have a sac of 100 slings will 50 be male and 50 female? That's where the numbers get a little crazy, but I think your Stats do the best for...
I'm sure you know there is no way to guarantee a female but it would definitely increase your odds of getting one buying 3-5 true slings. I think once they get a little bigger as your "2 inch" Ts were they would be easy for a seller to figure out the females and sell the rest as "unsexed"
To...
No Kidding, I have tons of them, brown and black all over my house(outside) and yard.
Kind of a nuisance with my two young kids, anything left in the yard overnight will become a new home.
I just had a G pulchra molt twice in less than 2 months. http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?216452-Look-what-my-G-pulchra-just-did!!!
Its been 3 times in about 4 months, I really didn't imagine they would molt that close together. I would be shocked to see one month considering it...
I got to see him actually flip this time.
Looks like another molt, which is strange cause he just molted in the begining of July, about 7 weeks ago(http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?213089-Grammostola-pulchra-molting)
I have heard that they molt more frequently when it's warm but...
1. My four year old daughter get me into tarantulas, from September to Christmas she insisted it was the only thing she wanted from "Santa" without ever being prompted or being around one. What kind of 4 yr old GIRL wants a spider?!?! Needless to say... Santa came through with a G pulchra...
