I have a friend that is severely allergic to a lot of things (cats, dogs, nuts, shellfish, and T's as we found out). I let him hold my B. smithi one night (before we knew he'd be allergic) and within minutes his hands were very red and covered in hives. I think if it was the T that was making...
Great job coming into a thread and making the OP feel like an idiot while sharing no relevant information. Is it really that hard for you to just keep your mouth shut?
My first and only pokie is a P. ornata. She is somewhat skittish but only when she is out of her hide. Whenever I see her out she normally darts back to her web at the slightest disturbance. I have handled her on a few occasions and I have to say she is not nearly as defensive as some of my...
Care to elaborate on this? I've seen a buddy's G. Rosea eat a pinkie mouse (not a pleasant sight btw) and there was absolutely nothing left afterwards. Maybe this is different with the stronger bones of a more mature mouse?
But do we have any tangible proof of this? I've read numerous threads on this subject and have never once seen a scientific study or research paper saying that calcium is harmful to T's (if you know of one please share). I know that some people claim feeding rodents on a regular basis can cause...
My first pokie was an ornata. No matter which species you get there's a chance that its going to be pretty aggressive. I would just go with whichever one you like the best :D
With mine I just toss the cricket right in his web and he'll take it right away. Not that I really have a choice since his webbing takes up the whole top of his vial lol
I've been going to reptile shows here in FL for about 12 years. You can definitely find better deals on the second day, but you will always find better selection on the first day. Another good thing about going the second day is if you talk to the sellers you usually get them to knock $5-10 off...
He's probably still hardening up from the molt.the best way to tell if he's ready for food is to look at the fangs and see if they're completely black. I would take the cricket out so he doesn't get stressed. Offer food again in a couple days, if he doesn't take it right away leave it in for an...
Ok well the mold is gone now. I'm glad I had the idea to remove it in the bath tub because as soon as the lid was off she was doing laps around the tub.
My WC G. rosea made a sac about a month after I got her, ended up being a dud though. The webbing she sealed herself in with was extremely thick and there was no sub in it like I normally see when a T seals itself in for a molt.
How harmful is that fuzzy white mold that pops up often in sub or on a bolus? Has anyone ever had a T die or become sick because of this type of mold?
The reason I ask is because I noticed there are a couple spots of it in the deli cup my P. ornata came in. I just got her yesterday and she's...
The tanks is definitely way too tall, but most pet shops won't change their setups no matter how many people complain. To be fair though it looks like they knows what they're doing to some degree.
As for your B. smithi, the temps aren't that bad but it wouldn't hurt to stick a small heat pad on...
