How about a jar lid with some small gravel and small rocks in it (cleaned}, with water in it but not covering the rocks completely. They can climb over the gravel but still take sips of water between the rocks.
Mini Really Useful Boxes, modified like @EulersK showed on YouTube. Penny for size reference. Made tiny water dishes and caves out of bake-able polymer clay. Twelve happy terrestrial slings :) A.geniculata, S.hoffmanni, B.schroederi, B.albopilosum, B.klaasi B.hamorii.
I had fun looking through this thread so after several years on here I guess I'll finally show my face. This is me on vacation with my husband a few months ago. He tolerates my Ts better than he tolerated my pet rats, lol.
True, and you are welcome to laugh at things I spent money on, such as when I bought oak leaves from an online seller for my roaches because I live in a desert without an oak tree in sight. Since you're from Massachusetts you may now have a good laugh at that, and it's ok. I laughed at...
I live just north of Albuquerque and they are Blatta lateralis. They come out on my patio during the summer evenings. I've thought about collecting some and starting a colony to feed my Ts, but even though I'm a fan of (and have kept) many species of exotic roaches, they're just too roachy for...
Incredible variety of species, careful expert packaging, quick and friendly responses to all communication. I bought 7 slings (and got a surprise freebie :joyful:) and all are perfect. One thing I really liked is Joe texted me photos of the spiders next to a ruler right before he packaged them...
Lost my MM rosea a couple weeks ago the same way... Attempting a post-ultimate molt. I can certainly empathize and may I suggest an effective coping strategy... buy 4 spiderlings. Worked for me :joyful:.
I'm a 50 year old female healthcare professional who wears mom jeans, t-shirts and crocs in my downtime. No makeup, thick glasses, simple nondescript hairstyle (often in a ponytail), with a colorful tattoo of flowers and butterflies in full view around my wrist and forearm. Kind of nerdy but...
Cabinet is 30x40x12 inches with a shelf in middle. Made simple removable plywood boxes lined with flexible radiant barrier and then I taped seedling (not reptile) mats along back with foil HVAC tape. Made sliding plexiglass doors to help hold the heat in. Raises temperature about 10 degrees...
Stick with coco fiber only, in my opinion, because it is cleaner (no organic matter or manure etc in it like topsoil might have). In a tank that large, I think you could put a plastic container over her when she's on one side (to keep her from running) and then pour in some substrate on the...
It was just a question. I didn't think it would turn in to a discussion of the worthiness of the question and whether or not I should be asking it or caring how to pronounce things. Thank you to the initial people who gave me helpful information without the judgmental commentary. Sheeeesh!
Well I'm the OP, and I like to talk out loud about my T's with my friends face to face (I know, so old-fashioned!) so I appreciate knowing the pronunciation. Thank you all!
I don't use supplemental heat mats, but on chilly winter evenings when we turn on the gas fireplace, my tarantulas sometimes get to enjoy the warmth too. Once I had 4 enclosures lined up on the floor (not too close of course) and all 4 T's were angled against the sides with their bellies...
Perfect transaction. Packaging was done with great care and obvious expertise. Excellent communication, quick responses, helpful & courteous. Great experience all around.
