    NZ mygalomorph ID? (photo)

One more thing - she totally pwned the banded tunnel-web (Hexathele hochstetteri) that was living at the opposite end of the terrarium this morning - aggressive little gal. (as you can see, she wasn't too happy with the camera lens.)

    NZ mygalomorph ID? (photo)

Mygalomorph ID? (photo) Hi all. The pic is of my tunnelweb spider 'Doloras'. She resembles a Porrhothele antipodiana in size and shape - but not colour, as she is totally black (without the yellowish cephalothorax). Also Porrhothele are very uncommon in the upper North Island. It looks...

Can two female mygalomorphs live together?

Good morning everyone. Bad news... I awoke to find the banded tunnelweb (the new addition) almost dead with a puncture wound to her abdomen, and a very aggressive black tunnelweb prowling around the terrarium ready to bite anything that came close to her. I know this is a "I-told-you-so"...

Can two female mygalomorphs live together?

Thanks for all the comments everyone! I feel totally welcomed as a newby :). It might seem irresponsible to some but, I think I'll leave both in the enclosure for now and see what happens. Cacoseraph - I think you are right on the money. There is an ancient Puriri tree in my backyard...

I've put her in the same enclosure (at the opposite end with an extra hide). Will they cohabit together without problems? Or will...

    Keeping Tunnel Web Spiders

Hi everyone. I'm a newby owner of a Porrhothele Antipodiana, which is the closest spider New Zealand has to the Tarantula (illegal to have T's here). I can barely find any specific information about keeping Black Tunnel-Webs, so any advice from owners would be hugely appreciated...

    Introduce Yourself

Hi from New Zealand! Hi everyone. Our property backs on to lush native bush which seems to have a huge population of tunnel-webs (closest spider we have to tarantulas here). Was terrified (but fascinated) by spiders as a youngan but now love them and am loving owning 'Dolores' - who's...
