Heh. OBT is the only T I ever had escape (albeit briefly). P. lugardi have always looked pretty good, so I might go for one of those. Do they typically loaf in a burrow or are they likely to need a lot of floor space?
Nah, they do look lovely, but my skin sucks at handling hairs unfortunately. Used to get a real nasty rash from my Brachypelmas when I had my previous collection.
Yeah they can be conflicting, but for some comparative general info they're convenient. Once I've chosen a species I'll be researching it more thoroughly, don't you worry.
Interesting to find some NWs without hairs. Like the look of them too. Thanks :)
Ah yes! Kept two of those before (Pterinochilus and Ceratogyrus) and the other two look interesting as well. Might go for a Cyriopagopus looking now at some care sheets, or if not I may get a Ceratogyrus again. Think I had a marshalli if I remember right. Always liked the horns.
Anyway, cheers...
Hi,
I'm getting back into the hobby after having taken a few years break. I'm looking for an old world species (to avoid hairs)to start off my collection again. Terrestrial species are ideal for the enclosure I have (measures 45cm across by 30 width by 30 high). Ideally something with...
Hey ABs,
Thought I'd share a recent experience I had with my P.cancerides. She's an adult female and apparently very strong. I keep her in a pretty basic plastic enclosure with two clamps (one at either end) holding the lid on.
The other night I was woken up by a strange noise. I got up...
Hey ABs,
I've recently had a lot of success breeding Pamphobeteus and Phormictopus so I've decided to take on another breeding project.
I have two different Ts that I'm trying to decide between. Euathlus sp. red or Grammostola rosea.
From looking at the breeding reports on these two, they...
Hey ABs,
I've just recently (yesterday) managed to successfully breed Pamphobeteus sp. machalla.
Im having trouble finding any breeding info on this species and Im interested to know how long it takes before they normally produce an eggsac.
I've bred Ts before but this is my first time...

This guy has quite a lot of vids like this so if you need some care info. then this is what I'd recommend.
"Do you keep them all in the same cage?"Is the most common one for me...
I really don't mind educating people about tarantulas if they ask me questions like this. What annoys me a little is when I give them answers only to find that a day later I'm asked the same question again by the same...
The substrate was at half moist so it wouldn't dehydrate and half bone dry which is the side it would normally be on. Whenever it would kill a cricket it would always bring it to the moist side and leave it there.
No signs of fluid loss. An update: The T has unfortunately passed away completely. I checked the body and found white marks just below the mouth. I assume this is some kind of infection so I have destroyed it's previous enclosure along with any other enclosures it has been inside.
Hi ABs,
My new 1/2 inch G.B.B. has been showing some strange behaviour since I got it 2 days ago. Everytime food was offered, it would kill but not eat the cricket and instead just leave on the ground close to it. Today I have found it to be in a death curl position but it is still mildly...
As it gets bigger it may be worth getting it an enclosure that opens from the front rather than the top. My versicolor also loves to hang out at the top of the place.
It is quite common for pet shops to try to get you to use that gel. They are really just trying to sell their stock but all it ends up doing is killing the tarantula through dehydration. Never use that gel for Ts.
As for the enclosure set ups: Pets shops tend not to understand how to take care...
People don't seem to be paying attention to the fact that it wasn't an intentional handling. That being said, I think there were probably greater priorities at that moment than getting a camera and filming the event. The safety of the T should always be the number one priority.
