i have a good supply of the coco coir, and vermiculite, i use these for the mushies... i'll be at the exotic pet expo sunday to try to find some more emps, so i'll try that mix in the enclosure i set up for them...

i added the lime for two reasons- first, it was recommended in one of those often contradictory caresheets... second, that is what mushrooms like... i'm pretty good with growing mushrooms, and i chose this scorpion because the environmental requirements are almost identical to what you need for...

just got my first scorpion, an emperor, he's living in a 19 qt rubbermaid container, with 2" of small river rock in the bottom, 6" of moist peat moss with some lime added in on top of that, a nice hide made from a plastic bowl, and a clay flowerpot saucer for a water dish... the scorpion...

thanks... she was out again today, and i got to take a good look at her... its not the tail thats swelled up, its the rear part of the abdomen... i can see more of the membranes between the plates now, and she does seem fatter than she was yesterday... i took the 3 remaining crickets back out of...

well i found 4 of those crickets under the water dish this morning, so she didn't eat the whole dozen... she went into her hide after eating all them, and hasn't come out since... i'm guessing she may be moulting... i don't want to disturb her, so the pic will have to wait til she's up and about...

the tail was fat compared to the tails on the other emperors they had for sale... the area of membrane on the sides of the tail is much thicker than the shell part... i'll post a pic tomorrow...
