New to arboreal, Best arboreal tarantula to begin with?

Absolutely. You can't forget their funny "wave walk" too! Such a goofy walk. Definitely my #1 recommendation for a beginner arboreal.

    Meanest Tarantula?

Be very cautious when rehousing the O.B.T. if you get one. Mine was lightning fast and before I knew it it had ran up my arm and jumped onto the floor (I was sitting down). They are fast, defensive, and apparently pack a potent bite. That being said, you can generally find sling's fairly cheap...

Do you think you have the Most beautiful arachnid?

My P.Ornata has some beautiful warning legs! :)

New to arboreal, Best arboreal tarantula to begin with?

My personal suggestion would be an Avicularia Versicolor. As sling's they are a beautiful blue color, they spin incredibly artistic web's, mine have always been docile enough to handle, and I've never had one show the slightest hint of defensiveness towards anyone. I'm a big fan of the...

Great choice friend! L.P.'s have been known to grow around 6 inches in their first year! Mine was like a garbage disposal, eating anything and everything in sight! As slings, mine would eat a cricket every 3 days or so. As they grow older, I introduced small roaches as well. All of my insects...

am i the only one who doesn't like arboreals?

I actually prefer arboreal to terrestrial. Don't get me wrong, I love terrestrial's but setting up a nice arboreal enclosure is a lot of fun and makes for a great display. Also, my arboreal T's make the coolest, most unique web's!

AVICULARIA:: Can you house any type together?

I had never head of those until now, interesting T's, I did a google search on them. Anyways, Ive heard of people housing A.Avicularia's together, but most instances lead to fighting over a certain territory in the cage, one out eating the other resulting in one growing larger than the other...

What happens when my Freebie T dies during shippment? HAS this happend 2 you?

I believe the question asked in the original post was answered to the best of the communities knowledge, I think this thread should be vacated before people start getting banned. I'm not sure there is any more to contribute here. I'm going to leave this thread now, but I wish you all a...

    Avicularia somethin!

Looks pretty similar to the A. Avicularia male I had a while back. Nice looking specimen. I love the fact they look like they're wearing little pink shoes!

What happens when my Freebie T dies during shippment? HAS this happend 2 you?

Oh man, resorting to name-calling because you disagree with the answer's you recieved to the question you asked isn't going to get you far here man. I havent seen any posts that were attacking you, only responding to your inquiry. The people on this forum are very helpful, minus the trolls...

I'm still voting for the L.P., maybe I'm biased since it was one of my first, but I think they are the perfect beginners tarantulas, if your looking for a large terrestrial.

What happens when my Freebie T dies during shippment? HAS this happend 2 you?

I think you should just be happy that the two you paid for arrived safely. You can always email the seller and say you are very happy with their service and the two T's you ordered arrived healthy. Then tell them thanks for the freebie, but mention it didnt make it. Who knows what theyll say...

An adult L.P.will grow to between 7.5-10 inches. As a sling, it doesn't need much room (too much room could make it hard to hunt it's food). It will need around 80% humidity, which can be achieved by lightly misting a well ventilated enclosure, until the spider has a 3 inch legs, which will...

    Pomona Reptile Show!

Hey everyone! My girlfriend and I went to the show on saturday. It was SO packed!!! Anyways, besides the massive crowds of incredably rude people and children running wild pushing their way in front of you and stepping on your new shoes any chance they got, it was a great show. I bought my...

    Ready to eat again?

Nice post, Pikaia. I agree that rushed feeding may cause injuries/deformities fresh after a molt. However, 007, 10 days after a molt should be plenty of time for a tarantula to have hardened/recovered from it's molt. I usually wait approximately a week after a molt, when the tarantula is no...

Well, then once again I recommend the L.P. (Lasiadora parahybana) They grow fast, all of mine have been exceptionally docile, and they are pretty large. They are incredibly simple to care for as well. Just a warning, I know you're only 15, but owning tarantulas is DANGEROUS...

Green bottle blues are beautiful. Mines very fast though. The slings are a little pricey, but well worth it. Thats why I asked for more information on what the OP is looking for in his first T.

Welcome to the hobby. Do you have any preferences? Arboreal or terrestrial? What about the size of the T when it is fuloly grown? L.P.'s (salmon pink bird eaters) are pretty interesting. They get pretty big though.

Comment by 'Its420Somewhere' in media 'A.versicolor sexing?'

That's what I am hoping for, since I bought it as a sling for $8. Id like to breed it when its ready if it is for sure a female. If its a male, I'd like to "stud" him out so he can get some action before he dies
