Yea, I sent him two MM Poec's and vanished... I have his number and bug him nonestop but he never calls me back or gets ahold of me. It drives me crazy, as I have no problems maintaining contact with anyone I'm in business with. Yet, no word back from him in around 2-3 months. I suppose I got...
Well I forgot to update this. He did get into contact with me. It was a complete miss understanding... I had the wrong phone number saved in my phone and got it all sorted out.
What happened to the good ol' days when we used to just take our old/dying pets outback and shoot them with a .45? This is torture I tell you, TORTURE!
I'm a guy and I was buying fishnet pantyhouse long before I got into spiders... Does that make me wierd? :D
You may be a hopeless T addict when your quick over view of the collection before bed soon turns into being 2+ hours of standing and staring with a flashlight.
I would have to say the first one looks almost like a T. gigas. The second one however looks much different. Almost like a B. smithi if memory serves me right. Who knows though, my eyesight has been getting pretty bad lately. I have been known to mistake cats for turtles...
Just my opinion, but A MONTH?!?!?! Pretty sure if a tarantula is ready to eat it will eat. It's not going to "damage" the internals of its mouth and if it somehow did, pretty sure it wouldn't make it 3 months much less until next molt ;) Again, that's just my .02
If you want a sick looking T just go find an Avic avic at a local petstore ;) But for an awsome looking T, I would recommend a P. irminia because everyone needs an irminia (literally) :P
Your parents dont allow you to touch it??? Maybe they should do some research on them so they can realize that a bite from a GBB is completely harmless, let alone it even having enough strength to actually tag you. By now, being the tarantula "lover" you say you are and being in the hobby that...
Yes, you pinch right in the center on each side. And it could be dehydrated for a number of reasons but they all add up to "it hasn't drank". My guess would be that it hasn't had a solid source of water in awhile. Just because you spray the sides of the enclosure and the ground doesn't mean it's...
In this situation, if you have something to get her to drink such as a syringe than yes I would recommend doing that ASAP. It is the most sure way to know if it is intaking any water or not.
And, if you waited for the next morning and she did improve there would really be no reason to do it...
Picking her up when she is in that situation is not dangerous. At that point, she is so dehydrated that she pretty much has little to know motorfunction whatsoever. All you do is gently pinch it on each side of the carapace with your thumb and pointer finger. Even is she was completely...
First off... Have you even done any research or have any basic knowledge on proper husbandry for a GBB or tarantula in general for that matter. Just from the picture and what you said I have heard several know knows.
- Do NOT poke at a tarantula with tongs or anything for that matter...
I currently have 23 tarantulas and have spent right around $1000 on them and all the supplies to take care of them. Would be much much more, but I'm a bargain hunter ;) Most of that is from a naturalistic terrarium I built (supplies) and also went out and bought either 7 or 9 of the 12x12x18...
I'd say get the L. violaceopes! But of course, I would definately try to talk them down on price. At the moment, a 1" L. violaceopes will run around $30... I'd sell you one of mine, but I love em too much :D They are KILLERS, and also amazing in terms of color and sheer size. Females are...
I find the best ways to keep them from escaping when watering is to open container very slowly and spray slowly, or you could just smash it with a hammer. While it would be very dead, it would also lack the proper motor skills to escape again. I would go with first choice though ;)
Well, I have had experience with each of these and for being my most enjoyable/exciting one I would have to say the fasciata followed by the striata. In terms of beautiful patterning and colors the order would be striata, fasciata, pederseni. I would say the best choice would definately be the...
I am almost certain those are real legs... Probably just got done feasting on his woman after mating with her ;) He looks like a SUPER BEAST!!! Mwaaahaha :mask:
