HELP How to travel with T's?

I've put Ts packed individually in my luggage under the plane...in winter....in Canada. Specifically a Female P. regalis comes to mind. 10 hours in the baggage, she was quite cold and imobile when I got her out I thought she was dead. But after a few hours inside she came to and was fine. I...

    cross breeding.

Not gonna lie, I'd be tempted. There was a thread a long time ago about a guy who cross bred and posted pictures of the "new" colour forms from his project. He crossed Psalmopoeus cambridgei with something IIRC I've always considered doing it my self just to see what happens and only...

    baby speculed king snake housing

This is a pretty comprehensive care sheet for King Snakes. This should give you a good idea of what you need. http://www.thekingsnake.co.uk/Common_king_snakes_care_sheet.htm But the too long didn't read version is: Min75-Max90*F temperature gradient in the tank. Use a heat lamp or heating...

    Fat Ros

I've found that offering food ever two weeks is more than enough for older juvi and mature Ts. But if they're slings/small juvies then power feeding is the way to go IMO. They get bigger much faster and then you can switch to a more infrequent feeding schedule. That said, "over feeding"...

    Value of a Female A. bicoloratum 2.5"

I'm pretty confident it's A. bicoloratum... my buddy had a fairly large one, this one has similar hairs on the rear and the same vivid colour. They're selling it for 70$ (Canadian), so even if it's a B. bohmei it's not a bad price for the size. I had a 6" B. bohmei in the past so when I get...

    Value of a Female A. bicoloratum 2.5"

Does anyone know what a female A. bicoloratum 2.5"ish is worth? I found one at my LPS and I think it's a good deal but I can't find an approximate price.

    Recommended Reading

TKG (The tarantula keepers guide) is the BEST source of information for a new keeper hell even an experienced owner / keeper / breeder would benefit from reading it. Get TKG and read it inside out and backwards and learn it good :P. It has helped me many times. It is my go to: for bites...

    Poll first OW T decisions.

    P. regalis was my first OW and she was amazing, I flew her across the country. And she almost froze to death on the plane ,warmed up, was sent back across the country at high temp and been bred several times. They're an awesome species.

    the "reach" of urticating hairs?

This would be a very bad thing to do, if you were allergic then you'd just be agravating your symptoms. The best approach would be to move the Tarantula to a closet and leave it there for a week or so and see if your symptoms subside, and then re introduce the Tarantula and see if the...

Dermestid beetle larvae, safe to feed T's?

IMO any captive bread non "agressive" insect is a viable feeder to your insect. Do not feed any wild bred insects. Roaches are awesome.

    My first Brachypelma experience

I've got a large female B. bohemei and she's awesome, she stridulates and flicks hairs occasionally and moves around alot for a female. You wont be dissapoined. IMO DO NOT HANDLE THIS SPECIES. Mine will flick hairs like there is no tomorrow when being prodded on top of that I'm not a fan of...

    Beefing up a Tarantula.

The whole time I've been on this board I always hear the "some one has claimed it burst" but never seen a thread with photos of someone claiming this. The biggest risk with a "plump" tarantula is that if they fall they have a higher chance to break open and subsequently die. In my experience...

Are there any major differences between Avicularia metallica and Avicularia avicularia?

No problem, just keep in mind the two pictures I posted are just examples your T if you get one of these species. May be less vibrant (or more vibrant) than the pictures I used.

Are there any major differences between Avicularia metallica and Avicularia avicularia?

IIRC besides the colours? Not really, species within a given genera generally have very similar physical characteristics and behavioral quirks. A metallica: Avic. avic.

can I feed "Green Cabage Caterpillar" to my tarantulas?

IIRC = if i recall correctly re: your question regarding what are IIRC pesticides.

can I feed "Green Cabage Caterpillar" to my tarantulas?

Test it on one T and see what happens? IIRC pesticides can be passed down through generations of insects so I wouldn't.

    Dangerously long molt?

I'd wait, Ts can go along time with out eating, and the lungs are on the abdomen, so if it ends up that the "face" is stuck you can attempt to loosen it with water and then pull the exuvium (spelling on that word?) off.

    Dangerously long molt?

How long has it been trying to moult for? If it's more than 24 hours you may try to lubricate the joints where it is stuck with water and a paint brush and if all else fails use tweezers to attempt to pull the exuvium off of the body of the T. Doesn't sound like it's that bad if 6 legs...

    Premolt signs?

The fact I haven't been on the computer is incidental; I've had several dozen Ts I'm not new to this I've just never see this drastic of a change in their appearance pre moult.
