I am just posting a question. I am not arguing, being a wise guy, or anything along those lines, I just question the likely hood of events, especially when I read time and time again to heed a warning. The question is this; often I read posts where one member warns another member about the...
Thanks viper. I think I will be making a change. And yes, my wife is crazy. My little girl was perfect and I sold her for a hundred bucks. The wife is going to get sold first this time around. Thanks for the detailed post.
HISTORY: I had a versicolor a few years back for about two years. She was beautiful and large. I sold her only after my wife insisted, since I had a new born. So I did and have always regretted the choice and have wanted a new once since. Well fast forward to yesterday, I got a little three...
Mr. LordWaffle,
No Nagging. I understand your preference and the concerns over cleaning and humidity with sand. I was just going by the video that Hobo Posted and was not concerned about any humidity issues, since all water is in the water dish, and cleaning is so minimal, I figure I would...
[/ATTACH]What's the hide made out of ? It looks like some preformed shape w/grout over it?? I like the setup quite a bit.
I found a piece of root on the side of my house that looked pretty curved and cool. I cut is to fit how I liked. I put it in the tank the way I wanted it to look. I...
Thanks Viper and Hobo. Hobo, that video is exactly the special I was talking about. After watching it again, I am even more comfortable with my enclosure. Viper, as far as my Girl, she is about 5" maybe 5 1/2" and very healthy. Also, thanks for the info regarding yours webbing her floor. I...
Thanks Hobo. I respect your opinion, not just cause I think it matched mine when I first thought to put this together, but you seem to give sound advice across the board. Thanks, I will leave it as is until our if I see an issue with the girl. So far she is eating and acting fine, all but the...
Thanks guys, I have been thinking of putting some eco in but I saw a national geographic that showed GGB in the wild and it was all sand. I tried my best to recreate the environment. I would hate to change it unless it is necessary.
Question, I built what I think is a pretty good set up for my GGB. Out is sand mixed with grout. I made a hide for her that she took to right away. I know sand is not recommended for terrestrial species but I figure the GGB is only semi terrestrial and it wouldn't matter much. She has been in...
I have my 5" versicolor in a nano and it works out perfect. I have put acrylic on the top for the same reasons mentioned. The only down fall is that she tends to web in the front corner on both the top and the bottom. Other then that it OS a great enclosure. Mine stays a bit wet due to the acylic.
My big centipede just molted. How long do I wait until I can feed it. I have Ts and know to wait a few weeks for the exo to harden along with its fangs. Don't know the rule of thumb for pedes.
Thanks.
Unfortunately I think you have to say you screwed yourself. Goes back to what I read often, do the research first before you buy. If that was the case you would have known there is no species by that name. That being said, maybe you didn't get screwed at all and you came out ahead. We see that...
Wow, thanks for the feed back. Now I gave to look at my pede tomorrow to make sure he/she is ok. The crickets were in there for awhile and I haven't seen my pede in days. Not uncommon for it to disappear, but now I am not sure its fine. Will know tomorrow
. My guess is that its fine, but I...
This may be a silly question, but I hate to see anything get hurt. I have a full grown Scolopendra and was wondering if it is safe to leave crickets in his/her enclosure. I have a few Ts and I never leave them in those enclosures because the cricket can do damage to the T if the T is in molt...
My G. Pulchra (snooky) Finally Molted
After being in her little hide for over three months my 4.5" G. Pulchra molted. I have her hide set up so I can see her if I move the tank away from the wall. I look at her every few weeks to make sure her abdomen is still full and she is not in a death...
Normal as normal gets. Mine spent the first few months in his burrow before he started comming out for air. Not sure what the reason is, he didnt molt or anything, but I see him now every few days or so.
I have had my pede for a few months now and he has remained buried the entire time. Twice I have lifted the wood to see if he is still alive and he is. He moves very slow at first, but after a little prodding he wakes up. I know everyone is going to say leave him be and I shouldn't mess with...
You can do all of the above or you could just hose it off and put it in the tank. The salt water that exists in the ocean would most likely kill anything that may harm a T and as far as any chemicals in wood treatments, if it is dry then it is no different then the paint on your walls. It...
