Nothing to worry about, they have been known to voluntarily go off feed for more than a year at a time. When she gets hungry again she will eat. That's assuming that your T is a female.
However, it's possible that you have a mature male instead. Look for balled up pedipalps and hooks under...
That is good to know - I was under the impression that the venom liquified the prey for consumption as well. So then, how does the T use it's stomach acid? Do they bring their stomach acid up after the venom does it's work, but before consumption?
heh, sorry, this is off-thread-topic but as much as I respect xhexdx - - you might want to check out Anastasia's background before you post again.
Good points - - I'm keeping them in damp eco-earth since they like to burrow - - but that's also why I can't tell if they are really eating. I don't actually get to see them unless I go carefully digging for them at this point. I'll try some of the mushy "human/pet" food over the next couple...
I accidently destroyed a nest while I was doing yard work. Momma was very calm so I took her in and collected 8 eggs that I found in my garden. I've had momma for a week now, but can't verify that she's eaten anything (she's about 19" long). She still looks fine though, so I'm still trying (I'll...

Wow! I'm just seeing this thread, but congrats!
I've been wanting a couple Florida B. vagans for a while and would happily pay shipping and take a couple off of your hands. Or, we could just meet up somewhere if you would prefer. Either way, just let me know :)
I wont do anything drastic then - - it seemed like they were after the apple pieces (no shocker) and weren't in the half where the roaches actually live. So, I'll give the bin a good cleaning tonight and see if I can discourage them from coming back.
Thanks for your advice.
They don't appear to be causing the roaches any problems, but they can't be good.
Anyone know if they will actually be a problem with the roaches or oothecae?
Nothing I can do about it until late this evening, but I did relocate the bin so that they don't continue to invade.
Funny that you mention eggeaters . . . . they're in my top 3 MUST haves after seeing some pictures of them on here recently - absolutely gorgeous. The great thing is my neighbors all raise poultry with eggs of different sizes. Bantams, Guineas, and full size chickens. Anyway, I'd love to get a...
