It's slower than usual, sure, but she's always thrived. Admittedly I don't know much about Aphonopelma but I've had A. moderatum slings that took forever to grow up. They were molting literally only once a year.
I checked on it this morning and her legs are still moving but she's on her side...
Just the occasional twitch but nothing else.
I mean, in all fairness she was like 0.25 inches when I got her and don't the Aphonopelma take forever to grow?
So, my lovely little A. bicoloratum turned on its back yesterday morning, which I thought was odd because there was no webbing anywhere and it has just eaten the week before. Still, I upped the humidity a bit and kept the tank covered to prevent it from being disturbed. I left it alone all night...
Bought some slings from Eli and the service was fast and professional with impeccable communication. Would definitely recommend and will definitely buy from in the future!
i was so excited i just had to come in here and hijack this thread.
my female mesomelas, "echoes", FINALLY molted 3 days ago. i caught her sneaking a drink and had to snap some pics.
this is especially eventful because her last molt was december of 2011. a whopping 20 months between...
i got mine from ken the bug guy. i had three others but my friends picked them up, so there should be quite a few from people near the austin-san antonio area.
i guess i'll just wait to see what happens with mine. the color is one thing but i hope the way it looks shrunken isn't anything horrible.
mine's about 4 inches. not too sure how old but i've had her since april.
how long does it usually take for the lighter segments to change colors? i'm not panicking, just curious if the colors should have changed by now.
hey guys. first time keeping a millipede and i got a question. i did a search but couldn't find any answers.
so my african giant millipede molted in may without any issues. she got a few new segments and legs added to her, and they were entirely white. but now (6 weeks later) the new segments...
euathlus sp. "blue" and sp. "green" can both hit 5+ inches, although by then they'd have their characteristic shiny blue/green femurs. until then they're brown all over with golden stripes on their knees.
i'm just baffled why he refuses to do a search on ab and pick one up here (or post a wtb) instead of considering dealing with a minor from another state.
good luck to you man!
yeah what kinda sucks is that he was actually pretty energetic about 2 months ago, but i had to wait because the female was in hardcore pre-molt. she finally molted at the beginning of april and i was making sure she was eating before pairing them up. he just ended up more...
i'm sure if you really wanted a female they're not too hard to find. better to pick one up from a dealer here than getting one from some kid.
i sold my female not too long ago to someone in rochester, ny. they're pretty readily available from my standpoint. there are a few reputable dealers who...
the weakness thing is no joke. i paired my a. geniculata last night thinking that my mm is still good to go (he hooked out december of 2011 but after a pairing in august of 2012 he was still making sperm webs). he was already pretty weak, and when he tried to engage the female she tore off one...
