    Smithi!

is the actual abdomen black or the hairs black.....if the "skin" of the abdomen is black, your tarantula is in pre-molt which explains its lack of appetite.... Like someone mentioned earlier, if it doesnt eat - remove the food

How to encourage my sling to eat?

How big is this sling????? fruit flies always do the trick for me regarding slings.....if you havent tried that, then that might be a way to go...Let the sling do its thing.....My G iheringi sling wouldnt eat for three weeks, then it molted...so that explained everything.

    What should I get?

I'm with these guys on the G. pulchripes..... They are aggressive eaters....They get to be at least 7 inches...are extremely docile, very easy to handle if you wanted to, and hardly ever kick hairs (if ever!) My female is a monster and by far my favorite in my collection

tarantula temperment? L. parahybana, A. geniculata

Thats because LP are aggressive eaters! They use their sense of touch to detect and capture food.....It doesnt describe their temperament as a whole......They are def. a skittish species as well as the A. genics I am sure if you negligently put your hand down there without caution, you will...

tarantula temperment? L. parahybana, A. geniculata

No, not that I have ever seen......Since they are new world Ts, they'd rather flick hairs and try to flee..... I am sure someone around here has gotten a threat posture but I have never experience one....

tarantula temperment? L. parahybana, A. geniculata

I own both of these species....LPs and A. genics are both skittish by nature.....will readily flick hairs!

    Feeding A T, A Lizard?

For someone who was posting about having a split tank and watching one tarantula eat another due to negligence, you sure have learned a lot in the past few weeks.....maybe you should write the next book so we all can read it and become experts!

Just got my first ever tarantula, a baby King Baboon! Need suggestions.....

arid means dry...like a desert Humidity wont hurt them but its not recommended..... Just do as everyone suggested and let it be at room temperature......mist the tank occasionally......their water dish will get buried so its kind of hard to keep one full...... Do not do any styrofoam...

Just got my first ever tarantula, a baby King Baboon! Need suggestions.....

Agreed, but at least OP is asking questions and wanting to learn - I agree that buying the Tarantula Keeper's Guide would be next on my list if I was that person. I still refer back to that book when I have questions.......
