I have actually done this and it worked great. My husband cut them in half using his dremel, not sure which bit tho. Then I boiled the halves for about an hour or so. The fruit in the middle will come out easily that way. Just make sure you allow them to dry very well for a few days before using...
I just want to bring a little more attention to Blue Heelers, as someone already mentioned them. I have 1 purebred and 1 mix and I couldn't ask for any more loyal of a dog. My male will follow my husband and I on our quads for MILES...literally MILES. He loves jumpin in the truck and going out...
Be thankful they aren't Dubias. When they are small the Dubias are actually kinda - can't believe I'm going to say this - cute. Then they mature and turn into these fugly, bulbous creatures that are not cute in the least.
I don't know if I qualify to answer this since the Taps I have are slings but my big P. irminia is pretty much non existant. You could say that I have a rubbermaid jar with a pretty piece of cork bark in it for all anyone would know. But my Irminia sling sometimes hangs out in sight, right at...
Congrats on the possible sac. If it's successful are you selling them because if so you will be getting an order from me. I love the little orange monsters lol
Not trying to break up the friendly convo here but I must say...she is beautiful. It never fails every time I log onto this site I find something to add to my wish list. Now I have to add a P. pulcher...will it ever end lol
Funny you should say that...my 3 year old is always with me when I check on them in the morning. His favorite is "Boots", a versicolor that he has to hold every morning. I've been trying to teach him the scientific names as well since he seems so interested, but hearing him pronounce Lasiodora...
I have ~40 and I check on them every morning and right before I go to bed. I'm hoping I'm not the only who does does this, as it does seem obsessive at times. :} Sometimes throughout the day if hubby is playing his Xbox or watching TV, I'll sit down by him and check out what my little T's are doing.
We have a molt! Woke up this morning to see my little naked versi chilling in her cube. I think she just wanted to make me worry and have me make an ass out of myself. I still love her (hoping for female).
Thanks to everyone for the responses. I definitely feel a little better knowing other people have experienced this and am patiently waiting for a molt. I'll be sure to keep you updated.
Congrats on bringing the little guy home. Beautiful little sling. When I first got mine I was shocked to find such little info about it, especially with how remarkable their coloring is when they mature. If you have any questions in the future feel free to ask me, since I might have the answers...
Here are pics of my L. violaceopes sling. I know there is some controversy over names, but this was sold to me as L. violaceopes (Singapore Blue). The Sing. Blue is much more "fuzzy". Please excuse the girly reference, but it's the only way to describe it lol.
I actually bought one of these from Dave Grimm for $25 and he told me that it was a sling that came from Ana. It's just a small little thing, maybe half inch or so but if it helps I could take a pic and you could compare it to mine? Just let me know if a pic is wanted. {D
I'm so glad to hear...I have been worrying about this little guy. I actually ordered 2 versicolors from the forum here and the 2 I got are bigger than my little one. Granted I do not know how old they are, but they were sold as "just hatched", or something like that.
I was hoping that someone...
half inch
.5" give or take...I'm going by the fact that they should molt more often when they are small, especially this small. I was thinking maybe it is just a slow grower since he seems otherwise healthy. Maybe someone experienced this before and knows the outcome, whether it will catch up...
I have a tiny little versicolor that I got around 3 months ago, and since I have had it it has not molted. Is this length of time normal? All my other slings are going on their 2nd and some even their 3rd in my care. It eats pretty good, is in a proper sized container and otherwise seems...
