I am not against feeding live pray, but I personally prefer pre-killed prey. For those who think a rat can not bite through a monitors skin. I grew up on a farm and know rats can chew through concrete if they decide it in their way so the monitors skin will be no obstacle. When cornered rats...
The coolest spot in the tank is 72 and the hot spot is 88.
The room stays warm even at night, but I have read that black rat snakes could have a lower night temp then day temp.

"Define "got him to eat." Were you force-feeding him?"
No we were not forcing him to eat. We just threw in a live mouse last time and watched him track it, chase it down, kill it, and eat it. He seemed to get really excited when we put the live mouse in there.
"Your post implies that...
This will be the first winter my sister has had the snake. If it is going into hibernation/brumation what should we do for it and how long will it be in it. The snake seems really active though so maybe it is the temp. I just recently moved its cage in a warmer room so the light may need to be...
My sister has a 4 foot black rat snake that started giving us problems. He has not eaten in a long time and the last 3 times we got him to eat he regurgitated the mouse later. We tried to keep stress to a minimum and have feed him live and dead mice(prefers live mice). I am not sure what is...
When my dog was young he once destroyed every pair of shoes I owned. I had to go to wal-mart at midnight to get shoes so I could go to school the next day. He would also ate pretty much anything. He ate sand, earwigs, bees, loves flies, pickles, carrats.....
If it is really slow then it might be a millipede because centipedes are fast. If it has 2 pairs of legs per segment it is a millipede if it as one pair of legs per segment it is a centipede.
They will eat them, but hissers are slow breeders and have a tough exoskeleton so they make poor feeders. If you have a lot of pets you will want something that breeds faster.
Hissers are not good feeders because of their tough exoskeleton. Some of the most popular feeders are Blaberus discoidalis, Blaptica dubia, and Nauphoeta cinerea.
Just talked to my moms friend and she said she would be glad to have us there. She said that between her and her neighbors there is 3150 acre of land for us to go on. :wicked:
I am not sure that these are red claw crabs. I think they are bigger than any of the pics I saw when I did a search and I did not see any with a red body like mine have.
How would I go about setting it up to be brackish?
I have them in fresh water now. I had origanally set this up for halloween crabs, but they were out of stock so I bought these. Here is a pic of the set up.
I think I found a place to go. My mom knows someone that lives there and she says that she owns a ton of land. She said that she owns half a mountain or something like that.
