I throw a roach in there & if the spider wants to eat...it'll eat...if not, the roach will live in there for a while until the spider finally decides to catch his meal. It's kinda cool watching some spiders "hunt" for their food too.

That's a good looking little house you've got for him! But Dan is right, an arboreal tarantula most likely won't ever go inside the little hut...they prefer to make their own web huts themselves, or they hang out on cork bark, or branches or whatnot toward the top of the enclosure. ;)

I have both slings, and my geniculata is more of a voracious eater, it hangs out more in the open, more active, less skittish. They're both a bit skittish, but the brocklehursti is ALWAYS in its little burrow, it waits for food to come near the burrow, then snatches it up. Geniculata goes out...

They are pretty fast growers, but it really all comes down to how much you feed them.

I've thought about this before, because we're planning on moving to FL eventually.. What I would do is keep a lot of small jars/vials on hand, and pack them all in as tightly as possible in a couple Pelican cases. The Pelican cases FLOAT, they're waterproof, you can put a name plate on them...
