I'll second the offer to take that bad boy/girl off your hands assuming you do find it intact... I'll even pay you for shipping since I've been wanting a Blondi for awhile!
Let me know! :D
I'll second that opinion... looks almost exactly like the T sold to me by a very reputable dealer as a "Burmese Brown".. hard to tell for certain from any pictures though.
Assuming that what you, it is a pretty adaptable spider & will survive most living conditions ok, but you'll see a lot more...
A mild bleach solution is also very good at disinfecting & completely non-toxic after it dries, after scrubbing with soap/vinegar etc, fill the tank with warm water & 1-2 cups of bleach & let it sit for a couple hours then rinse well...not recomended for use with fish, but with anything dry...
I've fed my T's superworms a few times & what I do is put them in a shallow jar-lid so they don't burrow, I have had one or two wiggle over the lip & dig in but its rare.
While theres no lab-certified proof that smoking is bad for inverts, I doubt seriously that its good for them, my guess is that it has much less effect on them then it does on any warm blooded critter, however if you have a choice I'd suggest smoking in another room at least.
My 4 inch P. lugardi molted a couple weeks ago & about two days afterwards I pulled her molt which was laying in the middle of her enclosure while she was in her hide on the far side. As I was about to put the cover back on I noticed what I thought was a piece of her molt hanging from the side...
I'd also say jump on the 5.5 inch G. aureostriata female @ $55... I've seen them that size selling for 4 times that price recently & that really is the best beginner T in the group you listed.
Mines in a 10 gallon aquarium with about 8-9 inchs of substrate, I also have a large rectangular piece of plastic in the center, under the substrate which leaves maybe 4 inchs of space to tunnel in & she's got a burrow like an ant-farm going 3/4's of the way around the tank which looks really...
I'd stay away from heatlamps with any T, but especially with arboreal's like an Avic..yes it will dry out the enclosure & also your T won't enjoy the light much. If you really need heat (and unless it gets below 68 in your home you really dont) go for a small heat pad instead.
Actually the North American species in particular must be able to survive colder temps then 50's because even Southeren Arizona gets snow somtimes in desert area's. They
stay holed up in cold weather though, so maybe a better question would be how active they stay rater then if they'll live...
My 2 C. huahini's do by far the most webbing, both are in small KK's & have pretty much filled them up with tunnels.. next most is P. chordatus but its just on the surface
of her substrate, my 2 P. murinus's don't do much webbing despite their reputation for it.
As a rule I try to avoid Petco for obvious reasons, but a week ago those were on sale for $1 with a Petco card so I stocked up, normally $3 so it was worth it.
I've had one of those for years & they work really well... stays warm even when the heating element is off unlike radiant heaters... don't seem to dry things out as much either.
62 would be a bit cold except maybe for some North American desert species that can handle mid-50's, so you might want to go with a heat source.. if you use plastic KK's, get a small heatpad & attach it to the side which is what the directions suggest.
I can't say I recall the species name at the moment, but I do recall watching a documentary about diving spiders & no question they were swimming down to an underwater web-dome to stash air bubbles... I know theres some that do use a web to crawl under too though.
Exporting T's from America is easy, its importing them thats a pain, I looked into a legal import from Asia awhile back & between customs fee's & down-time plus the permits required it simply wasn't worth it, not only because of the cost, but because the odds didn't look good for the T's getting...
