Day 1 (31 Dec 2011)
I managed to handle my 5" singapore blue once before so I thought I'd give it another go. The moment she came into contact with me she sank those fangs into the palm of my left hand, hung on for a few seconds then promptly retreated.
Hurt like hell. Puncture marks were almost...
got stung on the thumb by my tiny L.austra (about 1" long). I didn't treat it; just washed it and continued with my work.
It hurt a bit for a few minutes, then came some minor swelling. After a few hours, the swelling went down. 1 day later, a faint red patch is left, which is rapidly fading away.
I have to disagree with some Enhydris species. I keep an Enhydris enhydris in a dry setup with a large water bowl and it still gets blisters sometimes from stewing in the bowl for too long. I have to keep the water extremely clean.
What do I gut load mealworms with? I don't live in the US so I can't get those insect food online. Home recipes are preferred.
Is it advisable to feed my b smithi with only mealworms? I only have access to mealworms and crickets. I'm a college student and crickets can be rather noisy at night...
