    Shelby, my Carlsbad Green

She's about 3 inches, pretty small. While she is somewhat docile, she is a bit skittish. I handle her respectfully, and she has never made an attempt to bite me, or flick hairs. I hear the plea for interesting... she is always in her hide, almost all day, always baracading the entrance...

Finally got around to taking a picture of her, she's a paranoid one. She's a sweetheart though.

how many of you cuddle with your tarantulas?

I've held my male rosie in my hand alot since I got him. I'm always sure to be close to the ground, and never abuse him, just let him sit there. it seems as of late that he's become accustomed to the feel of being on my hand, because i practically have to tear him off to get him back in his...

    T's in a smoker's home

I usually try not to get involved with all of this, but I smoke near my spiders and they are fine. They do their normal things every day, they are active, they eat fine. You know, everything kills you nowadays. Going outside gives you cancer, waking up in the morning gives you cancer...

    Worried about my carlsbad green

My female Carlsbad Green seems to have shut herself in her hide. Originally, I came home from a business trip and found that she had pulled the substrate over the entire hide entrance (it's a coconut half, with a little archway door cut into it. For 3 days after, I assumed she was molting (as...

    tiny little tarantual.....

I think my next T is actually going to be a curly hair. I'm looking at picking one up tomorrow. Anything specific I should know about these guys? Aggresive? Dry/wet?

    Molt?

I came home from a business trip (just this moment) to find my Carlsbad Green has shut herself into her hide and covered the entrance with substrate. Should I assume this is a molt? She was absolutely refusing to eat since I first got her about a month ago. She maybe has eaten one cricket at...

    New classroom pet

That's definitely a rosie, and my rosie is so docile that even my friends who don't really like spiders love to handle him. It's a 50/50 with rosies... some are incredibly sweet, some are mean SOB's. Get to know it before letting it around children.

    Most docile tarantula???

I have a G Rosea and a Carlsbad Green that are both extremely docile and sweet. I have never once felt threatened by either of them.

A Rose hair that climbs up Glass?

My rose used to climb like it was going out of style. He still does it from time to time out of curiosity I suppose... But since i changed his substrate to potting soil, he spends alot more time on the ground. Roses can be very strange, and are by far the wackiest spider. Just make the...

    Rosies do the darndest things

That's awesome, lol. My Rose is so amazingly slow that when I'm cleaning out the tank he will climb all over, usually out over the top, up over my arm, down my hand... back onto the glass, then onto my computer desk. It's kind of like his exercise for the week :D He is seriously the most...

    Substrate....

I buy the bags of Potting Soil that I use at walmart for .96 cents per bag. They're big bags too.. each one fills up about 1/3 of a 10 gallon aquarium.

    Rosies do the darndest things

My Rose has managed to squeeze his 4.5" fat butt through a space the size of a pencil to get to the other side of a divided aquarium. He has also apparently webbed his hide to the sides of the enclosure, kind of like an anchor, or perhaps so he doesn't inadvertently fall down behind it...

Chronicles of changing the substrate on a H. Lividum

Lol awesome story :D I feel bad... all it takes for me to change the substrate is to drop a deli cup on the buggers and slide the lid under them, and they're happy as can be until I'm done. :D You have respect for going through that ordeal... pretty spider by the way :worship:

    Grammostola rosea problem

Just to give you some relief, the pictures you posted could literally be the exact same pictures that I would take. My Rosie does the EXACT same thing on top of his coconut shell, and also does that weird handstand thing with his butt on the hide. He ends up in all sorts of weird poses, and I...

    Taking pictures of you T?

The second picture looks pretty good, that's a great looking rosie :-) I'm still trying to figure out a good way to take their picture, as my camera phone has a really bad turnout when it's not used in overwhelming lighting, and I don't want to blind the poor things.

    unusual psychology?

I have a male rose hair and a female carlsbad green, and they're both amateur climbers. The rosie is considerably larger, and most of the time he'll only climb about an inch or so before he starts slipping and has to slide down, but sometimes he'll make it all the way to the top. Unfortunately...
