    Heterothele Gabonensis Escape

The problems I have with a possible escape; No 1 we just got a new, well, we adopted a 2 yr old cat, he is a nearly full grown male Neutered( scary for males to think about) all white short haired cat, that starred in a movie with Matthew McConaghuey spelling? and No 2 a wife that doesn't like...

Sadly I lost the above spider a month ago. I can't explain it, it doesn't get cold enough here to chill him that much. He (it) was in one corner of his enclosure. Standing but not moving and clearly dead. Well here's a Singapore Blue Female that came out of hiding for a big drink. The Ephobus...

I am getting (2) 1/4" Fufius sp Gold Trapdoor Spiders. Advice on setup?

I lost both my Fufius slings, a tragedy but it happens. I was optimistic about one lasted a lot longer than the other about 3 months and had doubled in size but I found him dead one morning. If you can find Tom Patterson's email address he might be able to answer your questions. After years and...

    Who molted today?

One of my Singapore Blue Females molted last night, she looks fine. I think in about a week when she is through stretching out she will be over 7 inches.

I am going to try to do a video on this one for youtube it's going to take a while. He was easy to unwrap and house. He's in a plastic kitchen canister with a 50/50 mix of contractor's clay and coco fiber wet down. Seems to be OK right now but not eating. I had some WC arachnids take 2 weeks...

Singapore blue in it's natural habitat? You shine your flashlight on it as it peeks among the trees and bushes. That's the kind of shot you see in movies when you really don't have even one second for another look. The film rolls on and it's rarely that you are certain what you really saw...

    Who molted today?

Just one molt I have been awaiting with great anticipation, Harmonicon Oiapiquea Curtain Web Spider. She got the missing leg back(was missing when I got it but no big deal). Her Carapace and chelcitherae are pink instead of bright red now. I think they will turn red again. If not a sex...

They will use a burrow if available. Opportunistic. Mine has some little branches and a few leaves and a water dish which she loves. Very fast spider. I am going to rehouse it soon. I want to set it up so she can spin a vertical web, not an arboreal setup though but to have proportional height.

New developments today 3 of my "babies" had their first live kill of a small cricket first there are a few of my Heterothele Gabonensis. Then there's the tiny Brisbane Huntsman tackling a cricket larger than him/herself and last a kind of behind the blurry web photo of a Caribena Versicolor I...

As far as I have read or seen they don't burrow. Mine is just 1 1/2" but someone is selling one that is almost 4". Mine seems to like to be close to her water dish but that may just because she is getting ready to molt. I read a taxonomy on them which said they might have somewhat strong venom...

Weird, I didn't notice the missing left rear leg because there is a line or a splinter from the twig there that is where the leg would be.

Posted by K & F Tarantulas The Singapore Blue Tarantula is a species native of Singapore and Malaysia. And this tarantula is one to fall in love with. They are best known for their amazing blueish purple colors. However males once reaching full maturity will actually change colors turning into a...

Same group as Funnel Webs this is a Curtain Web. I suspect the Venom on this one might be more Toxic than most T's. A looker though at least by my warped standards Ha! Latin name Harmonicon Oiapoquea.
