One of my B. Smithi's molted out about a week ago. It's finally starting to show a little patterning and color. The Versicolor has created a nice web!

After over a year of waiting, finally a molt! (MM)

Hokie: Thanks, I hope so too. The girl I picked up is definitely pretty as well, perhaps maybe even a bit prettier than him! Steve: I'm not sure how big he is right now, his molt is about 4.5" but it looks like he grew quite a bit. Since he's still fresh out of molt and I haven't seen him in an...

    Good/bad about a GBB??

Wait... so do you agree with me or disagree with me?

    Ariel's picture thread

Sweet! Better go buy some strong coffee in case you catch him getting started before you sleep ;). I love it when they molt (probably my favorite part of this hobby!)

Wow, Spazz looks like he could pop at any moment! It's sure odd how long they can stay so plump without molting.

A few days ago the G. Pulchripes pictured above molted. I thought it was a female but he's showing hooks :(. Some of the molt process: Today he looks like this: So I did the only proper thing I thought was fair to do. I got him a girlfriend! I went up to Ken The...

    Some more recent pairings:

OOF! Good to know. The reading reports I have seen seemed to indicate the opposite. I'll have to find an open area for them to get it on but where I can easily get involved (without getting her wrath turned upon me).

After over a year of waiting, finally a molt! (MM)

I picked up a freshly molted female for him today! Hopefully I can give mating a try in a couple of weeks!

    Some more recent pairings:

How have the pairings gone? I just got a G. Pulchripes female for my 2 days past ultimate molt male, hope she doesn't eat him!

    [Inquiry] General Exotics

I looked them up on the BOI because I saw that they also have a lot of reptiles. There is one positive review and one negative (ordered one thing but received something entirely different). Based on what reptiles they have, I'd say it's safe to say they definitely deal in a lot of W.C. stuff.

After over a year of waiting, finally a molt! (MM)

Premolt: This tarantula is the one that got me into the hobby. I bought him from a friend at about 0.75 around 5 years ago iirc. I was waiting for this last molt for well over a year and I'm a little disappointed. He was my first T so it would have been wonderful if he turned out female and...

    how much growth

Mine just finished it's MM molt (not 30 minutes ago). I had it since it was a 3rd instar (guessing, could be as much as 4th). Mine grew by about 1/3 every molt all the way up through adulthood and took about 5 years. IIRC (I don't have it recorded), it went something like .75", 1", 1.3", 1.75"...

    2 out of 3...

I've noticed some even more drastic color changes in my limited collection (amongst other species, I do not have P. Cambredgei). My b. vagans (one instar apart I believe) look way different than eachother. The odd thing is that the smaller one is showing more of the adult colors than the larger...

    C cyaneopubescens GBB ?????

I started the substrate pretty dry (but not bone dry) as if it's too moist it takes a long time to dry out and mold comes VERY quickly.

    C cyaneopubescens GBB ?????

I have had 4 for several months now (slings). They have all molted at least twice... I keep mine in vials with about 1/2" coir as substrate. The lids have about a dozen small holes. Once to twice a week I give them about 1/2 a small eyedropper full of water down the side of the vial. The...

Need some info on a green bottle blue?

I have 4 slings. Most did not web much at all until their first molt with me, then they webbed a bit. I have not torn down those webs, but they don't seem to have added a whole lot since (even on more recent molts). I would guess that if I tore down the current webbing they'd probably web again...

    Good/bad about a GBB??

As everyone has already mentioned, there aren't really any cons. If anything, I dislike that the slings are so difficult to photograph in vials (they tend to sit vertically on the wall or under webs). They eat great, the energy they have while attacking prey makes it interesting to watch (they...

    Varanus Dwarfus picture thread

Well... I ordered a new lens and tripod head about 2 months ago. The day I received the tripod head a woman decided to run a red light and put an end to my car (which I just spent way too much money fixing up...). Anyway, that's another story. Now that I've finally got a bit of time I decided to...

Comment by 'varanus dwarfus' in media 'G. Pulchripes M or F?'

Thanks for the reply. That would be awesome since this is my first T! he/she is growing super slow. I'll have to take some more pictures now that I have a new camera and lenses.
