I found the best way personally was to crush the leg, it detaches the leg properly then rather than just pulling the leg off, this method seems to pull some of the crickets inards out. Generally i feed the legs to my pedelings and tiny H cyaneus trio

I dont know if this would be a good idea. I know the exo-skeleton consists of chitin, and sclerotin. If i remember correctly, this is the same structural compound that makes mushrooms a nd fungus. If thats true, i dont think you should use anti-fungal cream. Might do more damage than good...
