:wall: Nope, just did a search and that isn't the spidey I found. however! A friend of mine took some pics of it for me and as soon as he sends them to me I will post them.
Mom found a large spider that had built a web next to the door...she wanted to kill it, but of course, I had a cup handy! I had to break the web to catch the spider, sadly...but it did tell me that the web was *very* thick and sticky. The web shape was the "usual" shape.
Spidey-stats...
"Treat" haha...yeah not for me. Funny how a 6" T can be crawling all over me and I'm okay...but a beetle, cricket, or, apparently, fishfly or dobsonfly...I'm all set!
Just googled "Fishfly" and you're right!!! *NOT* a Dobsonfly as I thought...definately, without a doubt now that I...
that pic is off, it's pinscers were actually short, the eyeball cam didn;t have a good angle. but thanks. :) I had no idea we had these around here cuz I've never ever seen one!
eyeball cams suck, but here's the bug.
And here is the bug I compared it to:
Yep, thats what I've got...and it's gross...just so you know the bug isn't dead, it was just cooled down enough for it to slow down so I could get a pic w/o her biting me (Yes, they bite!). She's...
Aha, maybe? I think I may have a female dobsonfly...no idea wth that is...but that might be what it is!! I'm hopefully going to put a pic up within a few minutes, waiting on a camera.
Also a no for that owl fly. I just googled images for it. I honestly am wondering if this bug is even from around here because I've never *ever* seen one before, and I'm a night person.
Yes, they are about the same size although I looked at it this morning and it's wings are resting folded over it's back now, where last night they weren't, they were spread like a dragonfly. Also, I just looked at a pic of ant lions and it doesn't look like those guys at all. I really have to...
I don't have a picture to put up of this large and scary looking insect, but I can give you decent details...it's wings are dragonfly like, clear and veined, very large and tapered at the end, I believe it to have a two-segmented body, with a very loooong abdomen, probably about twice and a...
I don't have pics but I figured if I give enough info maybe I could get an idea of what the heck lil spidey keeps popping up on my hand! (Yes, on my hand, twice). I live in Rhode Island, just for area reference. This summer has been warmer than usual, IMO. So, twice now I've gotten into my...
I support animal rescue...I support animal shelters and wild animal reserves, even some zoos (the ones that have working breeding programs for endangered or near-endangered species). I "own" two dogs, three cats, one tarantula, and one rat. "Own" is the term I use, coexist and care for are the...
Diesel
It's taken me a while to take these pics and post them, but here's Diesel, my 1 year old German Shepherd. This guy is super special to me because I raised him (and his brother) from four days old (long story behind that one, short bottom line: Do your research before you breed.). His...
This lovable little eight legger was just on my leg. After freaking out (I thought it was a beetle...yeaugh) I realized it was a spider, and decided to take a few pics. So...what is it?
No harsher than I am. :D I was planning on adding a sponge filter only after they were done and free swimming. The male I'm using hates filters even if they're barely circulating the water, and will sit at the bottom on the opposite side of the tank. Since he's been moved into this tank, even...
As of right now I am not using any filter at all, because the male I'm using is very uncomfortable with any filtration. Instead as the fry grow I am going to do small water changes and use a small python to clean the bottom of the tank. I've read mixed reviews on this method but based on the...
I have the tank set up, a very egg-filled female, and one happy boy in the tank. He's building his bubble nest already, and he's only been in there maybe 8 hours, as well as showing the female lots of attention (with her flirting right back, complete with vertical barring and head bowing). My...
