Not a dumb question at all! I had to google that when I first took the picture about a week ago. The answer is that baby scorpions' exoskeletons haven't hardened yet. I think it might be the same for a freshly molted adult scorpion too. I just checked and the babies are glowing under the UV...
I am probably going to keep this batch, but I have another one that probably only needs to molt one or two more times before she starts popping out babies. I have a feeling that the very next brood I get will be up for sale/trade.
(I enjoyed translating the Japanese in your signature!)
Well I feel like a complete idiot...
Most of the babies are leaving the mother's back so I've been separating them into individual tupperware. I moved five into their own containers, a few are still on the mother, and a few hid in the cracks of the bark in the mother's container. As I was...

I got Nan at around an inch in 2009. She is still alive and well (and actually just molted last week)!
Here she is today:

My one Tityus stigmurus had a bunch of babies last week and they are almost all at 2nd instar already! I've had the mother from 2nd instar when I got her in October of 2016. Any tips from you veterans out there?
Here's a few pictures:

Don't hesitate to order from Eric (Scorpionluva). An absolute pleasure doing business with him. If I'm ever in the market for more scorpions I'll be going to him first, no doubt.
I would say that the volunteering at a wildlife center is the best idea. That's what I do and I love it. Plus, I don't have to worry about the owls and red tail hawk every day since there are other volunteers that also do a great job taking care of the birds.
I've had birds in my life since I was born. My parents had two parakeets (Spade and Buddy) when I was a baby. Got a cockatiel (Sam) when I was a toddler. He just passed away this past fall at the age of 23. My mom got a mitred conure (Ivy) when I was around 7 years old, I'm 27 now. Ivy is...
I've owned both species and I can say: DO IT! I currently am down to my last H. incei (sold a few and sent the rest out for breeding), but they have phenomenal coloration and a voracious appetite for such a small species. As for the LP, every rumor you've heard about their eating habits are...
Cold blood is pretty spot on with his recommendations. I'd also stay away from wild caught prey items because they could have a higher chance of parasites as well. The only times that I've used wild caught bugs for food was for my wild caught wolf spiders and jumping spiders, but I still...
I agree with EulersK. It does seem that you may be feeding them a little too much. EulersK has already given a great response so no need for me to add to that.
For all my small slings, I just use a spray bottle (that has only been used for fresh water) and mist the one corner of their...
I had a 1.5" LP that grew to 7.5 inches in two years. It also turned out to be male. Still was a great display animal until I sent him out for breeding.
Just tried the water droplet method with my Chaco and it worked like a charm. I just dropped a dubia in the spot where it attacked the water and it gobbled it right up.
Like others have said, reptile shows are a good place to get T's at this time of year if you are afraid about shipping or the temperatures in your area are extremely low. In my experience, check sellers' reviews. If they have good reviews and have a history of great packing, there shouldn't be...
