Well I look at this two ways, I believe a girlfriend would like an Avic better (something a little sweet and clownish about them, plus as mentioned the fuzziness.) The second thing is if you get a Avicularia avicularia it will probably go easier in the money situation. ( Not sure exactly how...
It probably depends on the size your B. boehmei is now...
Oops, just saw the pics. If you can get the molt intact I would imagine there would be a good chance of someone on here being able to give you a fairly accurate idea on its sex.:) (Not me, I havent mastered that completely yet, lol)
Must be. I am wondering if T molts are ALL related to growth or if there is some kind of "time clock" also? My Avicularias, Aphonopelmas and Brachypelmas all seem to molt according to the species and often not even depending on size.
I have had six molts this week.
I would go with pre-molt also. As to the amount of time they spend in pre-molt, my smaller ones are in less time than my larger T's. Dont know if that is the norm though.
There's a big difference in the ones you want...:?
I would say either the mexican red knee or mexican blood leg if you are looking for something a little more docile.
More aggressive, the King Baboon or Indian Ornamental.
On the other side, one you should NOT get as a starter gecko is a Tokay! Granted, they have been easy to take care of, so maybe thats a plus. But the temperment leaves a lot to be desired and when they bite they sure make it count.
E. campestratus (sp?) isnt too expensive a T either. In my opinion I would choose one of those before a G. rosea. That, or as said, B. albopilosum.
If you do get an avic, look at behavior. I havent any that are mean but some seem to be more skittish. Good luck.:D
Disable the crickets...or you could give waxworms or mealworms. Whe I give mealworms, I usually crush the head so they cant burrow into the substrate. Good luck.:)
Thank you! I am going to try the pepper thing for sure.:D
What I did today and so far it seems to be working, is put dish soap around the bottoms and up a little on the sides of the enclosures( not by air holes), and sprinkled a little garlic powder too. We always used it for fleas and while...
