Thank you everyone for your well wishes and support. It's safe to say she passed. On a last ditch effort we put her in a tupperware container, lined with the wet napkins in a warm, dark spot...
she hasn't moved at all, she's all scrunched up and no sign of any kind of impending molt...
Well...a few days ago she started moving her front legs. Then I found her on her back. I thought that was great news, thinking she was going to molt. I raised the humidity, and she went back to the side of the tank
Today I found her on the bottom of the tank on her back again...
Scott...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY. I have to admit that I was really really upset by some remarks I just read...to the point of tears. I'm already dealing with a possible loss...I dont need a swift kick to go along with that sadness. But reading your reply made me feel so much better...
You know Code Monkey, I appreciated your advice...in the begining. But now it's my turn to be blunt right back at you.
What do you care what I do at this point?
Everyone here has a different kind of relationship with their tarantulas. There are some people who have hundreds and view it...
I sprayed her (lightly) with water, nudged her and blew on her. She hasn't responded BUT I think she's in a different position this morning. Maybe she's falling, or maybe she's still alive. I just wish I could check a pulse, :wall:
No :( I just keep waiting for her to move...I know it's probably wishful thinking at this point but I'm not losing hope just yet. I've decided to give it 3 days. If she hasn't moved in three days I'll throw in the towel. I just feel terrible over this.
Thanks for your responses..I do...
I understand what you are saying and like I said I completely appreciated his help and hey, he even came back asking for pictures, etc. That was nice! Some people appreciate the blunt approach. Some people dont. I didn't complain but do admit to being initially taken aback to what almost...
Thanks Steph. Yeah, I greatly appreciated the information he gave me, but there was no huggy-feely sympathy peppered anywhere, lol. I guess some people are more attached to their pets than others. To me, she's more than just a tarantula. I shared my life with her for about 4-5 years. I'm...
I never saw hooks under the pedipalps and they never got that boxing glove look to them. I have these photos...this is her a year ago:
The only one I could fine of her from underneath and the photo's all blurry from the water spots on the glass :(
****
And these I just...
Hi guys, I hate that lately the only time I come back to this board is when I have a problem but since becoming a mother my free time has been sparse.
Anyhow, here is my problem (I'll try to be brief). Abigail (pink toe) has been fasting for almost a year. We still kept offering her...
I strongly advise against it. We kept our two pink toes in a large aquarium divided by a piece of plexiglass. Everything was carefully measured and we had the plexiglas cut to fit the tank and it did nicely. Everything was fine for a few years...but one day one pink toe someone got to the...
Is it normal to see tarantulas sit like that with their fangs resting in front of them? I've never seen that before. I *have* seen the red fangs with my pink toes, they look almost bloody in appearance, but I've never seen them chill out with their fangs out in front like that. Has anyone...
Before you do anything, give her time. She may not be dead. I can't tell you how many times mine has done this...just sat there. Maybe try blowing on her and see if she moves. I hope she's still OK.
Take care,
Madeline
