    Megacormus spp

Same specimen as female with offspring in last series I posted. The kids are now each in a small plastic cup grouped (12 + 10) in 2 plastic shoe boxes (IRIS).

    Megacormus spp

I currently keep 3 different Megacormus sp. of which 2 are most likely new species (and both found by me, one not shown here). I love this species, very small, hence small container, and they seem to be happy with a cocos substrate and some small pieces of wood to hide underneath. Megacormus...

    Emperor Scorpion timeline

I keep Diplocentrus bereai, and they molt also slow; of the babies born in Summer 2006 some are still not adult. Very small species, and very cool.

    Escaped! Tityus magnimanus

FWIW: my wife found twice a scorpion in her towel, once she got stung. So it might work.

    Emperor scorpion care sheet

Yup, people pay still attention to PageRank, that's why you see nofollow everywhere. In my opinion Google "invented" this to break the power the blogs had by confusing people and "selling" it as an anti-spam measure. Even the name, nofollow, is very misleading.

    Emperor scorpion care sheet

It's a common courtesy that if you "borrow" photos off flickr that you actually *link* to the photo pages on Flickr, as explained on Flickr self. Also, you might want to link to related resources, e.g. my http://johnbokma.com/mexit/2008/03/20/pandinus-imperator-terrarium.html and I might...

    Dangerous scorpions

I have a 4 yo and an almost 1 yo. The 4 yo knows that scorpions hurt since I have educated her from a very early age. When she was 2 yo we lived in an apartment that now and then got walk in Centruroides flavopictus flavopictus so I had to educate her anyway (my wife got stung 4 times over...

    Found a scorpion?

Pseudoscorpions have venom in their claws.

Pests in Pandinus imperator (Emperor scorpion) enclosure.

I had fungus gnats; tiny flies that seem to run around, and solved that by introducing a few small spiders. Those spiders might also clean up your pin heads. I have seen at least once one attempting to capture a prekilled superworm :-).

    Help with heat and humidity

He, he, he, that was probably me, the glass guy. I do use acrylic glass for some small tanks that need a larger hole. I think I paid like 4-5USD here (Mexico) for a piece of glass with a hole in the center. I like if because of the weight, and doesn't scratch like acryclic.

Walnut shells bad substrate for scorpions?

Thanks! I want to update the article with the lid I am currently using (piece of glass with 3mm hole in the center).

Walnut shells bad substrate for scorpions?

http://johnbokma.com/mexit/2008/03/20/pandinus-imperator-terrarium.html is my set up. No problems for 3 years now. (Note that Jungle bed is, guess, like 80-90% coco). I did add several small pothos plants, and it looks very cool now. For the tarantula set up I used much more sand / sand with...

Walnut shells bad substrate for scorpions?

Have emperors in the same substrate for 3 years. Mixing it with sand most likely made a big difference. And, again, the quality of the stuff. If you have just big coco husk chips, I can imagine that it's not good. But a mix of very fine stuff, fibers, small pieces and a few bigger chips works...

Walnut shells bad substrate for scorpions?

My Diplocentrus melici begs to differ, it makes complete tunnels through the stuff. Mixed with sand it works very well with my emperors and a tarantula sp. I keep. Probably depends on the quality of the stuff?

    Finished Custom enclosure for emperors

OK, in my experience a happy emperor is a burrowing one. Maybe your substrate is too coarse for juveniles to burrow properly. You might want to add some sand to the mix. Anyway, especially the sides look very dry.

    Finished Custom enclosure for emperors

Make sure your substrate has a depth of about 15cm everywhere (looks way less). Also, looks too dry to me. As for more: pothos (plants), they do very well, and you can let them grow to the sides.

    Back

Some remarks: the above specimen is most likely a new species. I went on 2 field trips with Oscar F. Francke (awesome field trips with awesome people), one to collect this species, and another to collect a brown colored Vaejovis sp. I discovered a few years back, most likely also a new species...
