It may not be sick, I once found a bat on the morning laying on the sidewalk, I think they hit walls and get knocked out. I picked mine up, and for a while he was handleable, but then it took off and flew away, it was fine. I do not recommend holding them, and can't say it was safe, but I did.
potting soil may be a better choice, I will look into that, and yes, all of the B's burrow to an extent.
You can make burrowing species want to burrow more by giving them an uneven ground cover, and deep. (make "waves" on their floors)
Obviously they are burrowing T's. I knew this, so when I put my 2" into her jar, I made sure to put around 5 inches of coco-fiber as well. I didnt think through this very clearly, because when the cocofiber dries, it will crumble, and will her burrow collapse when this happens, or do they web...
Sense I scare people the other 364 days of the year- I typically spend Halloween just giving kids candy. lol
(I'm a tattooed spider collector, Halloween gives me a break)
Back when I had too many Tarantulas for bottles and "kritter keepers" to sufficiently keep, I considered making a display type wall of cages out of plexi glass for the T's. Has anyone done this, or have pics of anyones set up that has? I would like an idea to go off of in case my collection gets...
This is why I prefer racks to tanks...
If you can put a rubbermaid bin into the tank that the snake will fit into, do that. have a few holes drilled into the side of the RM, put a folded piece of paper towel on the bottom, spray it with warm water a few times, so its damp but not wet. Put the...
Aww!
When mine got big enough, I would open the door and they would JUMP into my arms when they thought they were going to get food. It sucked when they were 4 1/2 feet long, they are heavy! I love them though!
You can offer a small meal every 3 days or so, but do not leave the food item in the cage if your T does not eat it. I would switch it up too, crickets one week, mealworms/ roaches the next.
Good luck with your T! It is very nice looking.
Then you will probably be okay sense it is a gecko and they can tolerate cooler tempatures, but anything else should have a heatpack. I would still use an insulated box though. Overnight, you should be fine with just that.
Feed them lightly before they ship as well, and ship before Wednesday...
Heres some rough steps for an aquarium...
NEEDED stuff:
Heater (3w per gallon)
Filter
Light
Aeration
Set up the tank approx 1 week before adding fish or animals of any kind. I use the chemicals 'Stresscoat' and 'stress zyme' in my tanks, as well as a dechlorinator and freshwater...
They should be shipped with heat packs in an insulated box and shipped overnight, not priority.
Heat pack cant be right on them, have some newspaper or something in the box too to prevent bouncing.
How 'old' was the freshwater? sometimes, fresh water is just as bad as polluted.
You have to leave it in a running tank for a week or so. Also, do you have a heater?
Turn up the temps a bit, and throw some freshwater aquarium salt in the tank. That helps fight fungal infections and can...
Size sexing cannot be accurate, as size can depend on genetics and differences in egg temp and larval development.
DNA testing is probably the only true accurate way, but I believe closest to accurate would be color sexing.
