Yes, I agree with this. Some of us here do choose to handle on occasion, but if you do so, always remember to keep your T low like hassman said. If they fall, they could break their leg, or die. And remember, handling is for the enjoyment of the owner only...T's really could care less if they...
alright, thanks. Suzie's substrate was something called Zilla jungle mix, which is pretty much just peat moss, and she loved it. She was a G. rosea
We miss her :(
When we had Suzie, we also looked for 100% peat moss at Lowe's and couldn't find it, even with the employee help. I'd really love...
well, thanks for responses, but never mind. After searching, I found this thread http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=145819&highlight=keeping+track+humidity and most people said they would be fine with just their water dish, which is what I thought in the first place. I know Suzie...
Since Suzie's passing, we want to get a new T, and decided on a pulchra, which we will be ordering from Ken (the bug guy).
I've been reading up on how to care for them, but I don't understand something. I used the search function, and didn't have much luck getting an answer.
according to...
Hi guys!
Suzie recently died, but we still have her tank set up.
Is it ok to reuse her tank for another T that is terrestrial?
I'm not sure if we can just reuse it or not, but we need to know if we have to go buy a new one, or if we can just clean her tank out and put the new T in it.
Josh...
don't mist it while it's molting. Just leave it alone, and it'll be ok :)
When Suzie was alive and molted, I couldn't really tell a difference in her size.
Well, if she is eating, more than likely she is not in premolt right now. During premolt, they don't eat, but will drink water, even if you don't ever see them drink water.
Just keep an eye on her, but don't worry too much.
Do you know for sure how old she is?
I'm sad to report that Suzie died. Both Josh and I did all we could. She was a G. rosea, and a very good, sweet tarantula.
Next time we get one, we'll be getting one through a breeder and not the pet shop. Not sure if we'll go with a G. rosea again. But, we'll see. I of course really like...
Thanks for all of the replies, but sadly, I think she is dead.
I'll let you know if anything changes.
But, we think something was wrong with her before this molt. Like I said, she just molted 6 months ago, and I wasn't expecting another so soon. All the books I read about G. rosea said that...
sorry for not a lot of detail. Not much has happened, and nothing has come off of her. She's still on her back in the getting ready position with no signs of the exuvium coming off.
I'll add water back in her dish and make her substrate damp and see how that helps her
I know how to do that, but I just got rid of media net for my old phone. Reason is because I just upgraded and I'm waiting for my iphone to get here. Once it does, then I can post pictures and I will :)
