2 of my tarantulas died in a similar way. Trying to find the cause to prevent more deaths

Could just be bad luck. They occasionally have a problem molting and cannot eat after that. Maybe you just got unlucky and had that happen twice.

If it’s eating it the mealworm will die by the law of the jungle. Just prekill next time

You have to prekill the mealworm. They can eat Ts

I do coco fiber. Works great. Prekilled food is ideal until they can take down a small-ish cricket (at around 0.75 inch leg span)

    Grammastola Psychosis

I don’t think you have to change the cage. Just let it dry out. Ts hate when they are rehoused. Takes them a while to settle back in. Only do it when necessary due to growth. If you remove food boluses as they’re made the enclosure stays clean for years.

Either one of those is probably fine. A bunch of moss is not ideal. Just fill it half way up with moist, packed substrate. Moss will just make things difficult. Make sure the ventilation holes are significantly smaller than the sling’s carapace.

EMERGENCY T VERSICOLOR HELP ASAP PLEASE

Should be fine. Getting a tiny dab of cornstarch on a sling’s leg seems super tough, I would just let it seal off on its own. Leg injuries are rarely a big issue.

    Australian Tarantulas

I used to live in LA without air conditioning. We had a few heat waves where it got up to 118. Inside the tiny apartment got pretty close to that, definitely over 110. My Ts did fine. Just check the water dish every day.

    Rare Ts in your collection?

I have a dwarf Aphonopelma, possibly paloma. Got it at an expo in Southern California listed as a geniculata. For a while I was super confused why my “genic” was barely growing. I’ve had her almost 8 years, and she stopped growing at 1” legspan about 4 years ago. Eats all the time, crickets as...

    Is she stuck?

I don't know what you guys set your thermostats to, but if its at least 20 celsius no extra heat is needed.

    Is she stuck?

US keepers (like me) typically think that heat mats are a bad idea. UK keepers seem to be more in favor of them. Regardless, it should not be in direct contact with the enclosure. Keep it a few inches away from the enclosure, or ideally attached to a secondary larger enclosure, so it heats the...

    Is My T Dying?!?

Substrate level should look more like this: (Don’t mind the subterranean water dish, that’s just my gigas being a jerk) You can see how the burrow requires a decent thickness of substrate.

GBB sling dying after moult - DKS?

Sometimes something goes wrong during a molt and they die, either pretty quickly or after a while. Sometimes the sucking stomach doesn’t function and they just can’t take in food or water. Nothing can be done in those cases.

    Whats the best dwarf tarantulas?

No one (including me) has mentioned Bumba horrida? They are definitely my second favorite, super fun to own. Great hunters, very lively.
