06/18/2011 from my records. This is the 1st molt since she molted into the color she is now. Same temperament, same environment, same 'ol girl :)
I've never handled her less a few cuppings here or there for new enclosures/maintenance/etc and she's doing fine. She's put on maybe roughly 1/2...
Certainly.. Your image is a bit overexposed so if this doesn't show and pin-point those "swoosh" lines then I can fire up PhotoShop and adjust color/brightness and it may show more easily. Bottom line if you look where I've circled and on your own specimen you'll see a diagonal "swoosh" on the...
A sp. Guatemala
I can see the "swoosh" on the tarsi in the image. I've got one that molted 2 times back into a nice steely/cobalt blue color and is beautiful.
I'm sure you can find some threads I had started/inquired/updated with the changes. Mine is pretty easy going, likes to burrow...
Cork board is made from Cork tree wherein this bark is the outer layer.
What you see is simply the layers of the cork bark and I'm pretty sure it's not some bark glued to cork bark. The cork board you buy, to stick things into it, is the same as you have less the outer "bark" edge.
Maybe...
A colony of B. lateralis
About 2 years old now, or close, and started with 200. I'm betting I have over 2000 now. In a bin, in the closet. Does well and always available food = win.
Sorry late to reply..
So really as Brynn stated it's no real big deal honestly but if I can make it more dry, for those dry species, I figure why not and it can save time in the long run possibly developing mold, mushrooms, etc while it dries "en enclosure".
Also I'm no big fan of spread...
I can't fully comment now (sorry about to check out) but search for this very same subject and you'll find a few posts of mine, and others, who have used the microwave to dry coir.
It's pretty simple, relatively safe (I had a dish explode once but due to my own stupidity) and it's quick...
I wanted to audience this a bit and your comments.
Sure tarantulas live in the wild and in may peoples back yards and they were born there. The mother and father both lived there most likely and over time and successive generations have built a tolerance to the possible pesticides and fauna...
Read the first page..
Listen, we get it and it's disturbing to us because we like T's however what about those people that love cows. They think killing cows for our food is wrong. How about killing bambi?
Sure it's not right and it's forced but honestly your opinions on the pets you...
One might accredit much to a change in habitat or just that it's growing older.
Most creatures at the stage of infant/toddler would rather cower and hide than stand and fight and as they (we, them) get older we tend to do less and less of that. I've noticed nearly every single one of my T's...
I've read the thread and while many have given good advice, some questionable advice (from my own belief and opinions) however no one has given you "sound" advice, yet again, in my opinion.
Regardless of the points to handle vs. to not handle, as well the opinions of what species are more...
+1 I use Dremel and a bit as well I work up a template first on paper and then tape it to the cube/container. This way they are always aligned and proper and the paper cuts down on scratching it/etc.
Aye that could be as well.. Keep an eye, they get so stressed with shipments. I couldn't imagine being in a box shipped around with some of the people and things I've seen them do with packages. It's honestly amazing they ever come out alive but for the great packing jobs *we* have to do to...
DKS is typically defined by what appears an over exaggerated spasm not non use.
Most DKS (which is a bunch of different symptoms to a yet unknown complication, i.e.: there is no official DKS disease/et all) have rapid, uncontrolled movement of limbs in a "spastic" type of way. There are...
+1 but you gotta watch.
I used a microwave safe plate a few times and it blew up, literally, after I had re-used it. I put a few handfuls, spread around and hit the micro for a few minutes. that batch came out toasty and put it in another container to cool. Did this no less than 3 times and...
Not that it's applicable on something that large but you almost needed one of those rubber band hammock's we used to make "in the day" for our portable CD players (yes boys and girls, all cars did not have CD players stock :) ) so they wouldn't skip as you drove, lol.
Not sure of your age but...
