Birupes simoroxigorum (Bornean Neon Blue-leg) husbandry discussion.

Yes, exactly. I was kind of joking about the size. I’m excited to see it when it grows up.

Birupes simoroxigorum (Bornean Neon Blue-leg) husbandry discussion.

Supposedly they get much larger than Seladonia. I’m excited to get the opportunity to own one legally.

Birupes simoroxigorum (Bornean Neon Blue-leg) husbandry discussion.

Oh wow! I never thought that this species is one of those that had such controversy. I’m trying to get information about the husbandry to possibly breed them in the future. I guess I was one of the lucky ones to get some slings.

Hello, I’m gathering some info on the husbandry of this species. Sling-adult care and conditions. Breeding info. Any useful information would be greatly appreciated.

    Arboreal Orphnaecus

Are you talking about Orphnaecus sp. in general? or other arboreal species? The reason I ask, is that most of this genus are fossorial and terrestrial and there are a lot of arboreal species that are opportunistic burrowers especially when young. I just want to be as accurate as possible to...

    Sling update

Acanthoscurria geniculata rarely turn down a meal. You’re going to be fine on the feeding until it gets some size to it then I would feed it once a week.

    Avicularia Versicolor sling help

It looks like you’re doing everything right. Sometimes slings won’t eat until they get established in their new home but, also keep in mind it might be in premolt. I would keep it hydrated and wait a week until offering it food again.

    A seemani

Welcome to the hobby. What size is your Aphonopelma seemani? There are a lot of Aphonopelma species that make excellent beginners. There are also many more as well but, it’s a start.

    Questions for P.murinus owners

Webbing is their way of catching and detecting food. It also alerts them of danger and the presence of another animal. If webbing gets disturbed or destroyed, no worries it will make more. If disturbed, a lot of species of tarantulas will react in their own way and really doesn’t affect their...

    Gbb question

Sounds like totally normal behavior. If you’re tarantula is in premolt, you want to disturb it as little as possible. If it’s not in premolt, then it could be fasting which is normal. I would check in on it every once in a while without disturbing it just in case and welcome to the boards.

Think I got a great deal

If it’s indeed a female, then you got a deal. It’s impossible to identify sex by size alone.

    Where Are They Now?

I just read this and I’m alive and well. Currently building my collection back up with some breeding projects in the near future. I was gone for a while but now I’m back!

    Breeding My Two Poecilotheria Miranda

1: Make sure both the male and female are both well fed and hydrated. Nothing is worse than a male trying to get a drink (With his back turned) instead of mating. It's safer for the mostly the male and the female ( I've seen hungry or irritated males go after the female before). 2: Get a...

    Cranky Juvies...

Only time will tell. Individuals with these types of personality sometimes mellow out as they age but, don't be suprised if they continue to act the same way their lifetime. Nothing personal, they where just born that way.

taming down an agressive sp. ?

It's all about the individual personality of the tarantula. Defensive/Aggressive are two different words and warrant different methods in the husbandry of animals that present these personality types. In my opinion when people supposedly "tame" a "Captive Bred Wild Animal" in my words, that...

    Breeding immature females

First "immature" usually means that the animal in question hasn't reached sexual maturity. If that is the case then you risk the male getting injured or eaten instead of mating. There's always that risk anyways when pairing tarantulas but, my point is that it probably won't be successful if the...

What is actually the most common tarantula in the hobby?

With the exception of C. cyaneopubescens I agree with the above statement. C. cyaneopubescens are sporadically available here and almost impossible to locate locally. I'd like to add P. irminia onto the more common list. It sounds like to me Grammostola rosea is winning by a landslide in the...
