Its not a Mantis religiosa? The European or "Praying" Mantis
Protected in Connecticut due to their valuable role as insect pest predators.
The one I found is larger than my hand, is that larger than normal?
ID Please! Walking Stick or Praying Mantis
I found this in CT, where the Praying Mantis is our CT insect and protected by law. What is it?

Last night I...

I was wondering I know monitors are famous on eating scorpions, I will be getting a red eye croc skink saturday, I think they are very cool looking, and easy to keep. Room temp 70-85, and hum- 80%. I probably will take my EMPS out of my 20 gallon tank and use that for him. I do not know too much...
Well i mean i normally keep my stick on ones near substrate level, like pic below. For a digital you might want to do the same. I have a digital and i mounted it slightly higher above substrate. Their is real no correct way to put them, more or less user preference. Some place on top of cage...
If you are saying the temperature in the cage stayed at 60 and humidity at 80 or so, is that right? 60 for the temp is way too low, as of course scorpions can adapat on conditions, it is good idea to mimic its actual conditions. I would do temp 80+, and humidity 80%+.
Good luck.
Yes you do have an African Red Claw =Scientific Name: Pandinus cavimanus
If you notice, the Tint on the pincers, and your telson is black. If it were and EMP it would not be black but orange color.
That is correct, they are usually immune to their own venom, and would not affect them. So I do not see how the stinging killed it, maybe the mites or a parasite.
I actually have 5 EMPS in one enclosure and at night, I do hear them fight every now and then. If enough area and hides along with food is provided it should be smooth sailing from their. Good luck with that,
Yeah, that someone was me ;P .

Just to say, that scorp looks very much like an emperor..
or more correctly, doesnt look much like a red-claw
or maybe im just totally mad..
well got three people that may think it is an african red claw. It is definately noticable more aggressive than my EMP, and makes jolting motions with claws. They are very red, and bigger than the normal EMP pincers. Any other pics of an EMP that look like mine, cause i can not find any. Maybe...
