    Need Two IDs

Alright, just wasn't sure if they were obligate burrowers or something. Thanks

    Need Two IDs

These tarantulas were supposed to come in as Rosehairs but it it highly suspect these guys are. One came in with hooks, so it's definitely a mature male...at only 2 1/2 inches at most. Far as I know, male Rosehairs are much bigger and not usually red. The other one just doesn't look like...

    Crested Gecko problem

I've never witnessed them mating and she's never been pregnant before or laid any eggs. They hardly even hang out together, so I'm pretty sure this isn't the issue American toads...not sure of the latin on them but that's the common name I've offered the CGD before to them but neither one...

    Crested Gecko problem

A problem with one of my crested geckos suddenly popped up and I'm not sure what to do here. I've had her for about 9 months now with no problems, but for the past week or so she's stayed pretty much in the same spot and her toes seem to be twitching. She doesn't seem to want to walk around, and...

    General opinions on substrate

I have had some of the problems with Peat that eman listed, but not with coco fiber...they are not similar at all IMO. When coco dries it doesn't get nearly as dusty at peat and re-hydrates much better when needed. For the obligate burrowers sometimes I'll mix in some potting soil or vermiculite...

    CareFresh

I have worked with Carefresh for about 2 years now and it's a decent substrate for most animals...I haven't tried it with reptiles or inverts but I have worked with it for small animals like rats, gerbils, ferrets, guinea pigs, etc. From what I have noticed it isn't really 'dusty', however fresh...

    Heating for H. Lividum

Your temps will be fine...you don't need any heating element. Just be sure to keep the substrate moist

    First tarantula

If you want a tame burrowing species then I recommend E. pachypus (Stout Leg Baboon). I bought an adult female about 6 months ago for pretty cheap. She never threw up a threat pose or went crazy when I was transferring her or doing anything in her cage. She even seems tame enough to handle, but...

    substrate (G. Rosea)

Repti-bark is junk for Ts (and most reptiles for that matter). G. rosea needs dry dirt as a substrate, so the cheapest would be to go get some peat moss from Home Depot or Wal-mart. Personally I use Coconut fiber based substrate (sometimes mixing it in with Peat depending if I have any lying...

    T.blondi Questions

You may want to consider H. gigas...or that may not be what you get...let's not get into that right now...anyway, I just got an H. 'gigas' (about 2 1/2") and he's always sitting on top of his burrow, right out in the open. For the record I also have a full grown female King Baboon (8" at this...

    live feeders in the u.k

Feeding pinkies to emps is boring and a waste of time since calcium isn't the greatest thing for their diet. Go out and find some roaches...they'll put up 20x the fight of a pinkie and are much better for their diet.

    Jungle Carpet Python Appreciation thread!

That is an amazing looking carpet you have there...boy or girl? Also on a sad note, my jungle carpet seen earlier in the thread died 2 days ago...he suddenly stopped eating and I found out he had mites. I treated him for the mites but still he refused food until the end. I'm thinking now...

    Suggestions on new camera wanted!

I have been using a Sony DSC-S85 for a couple years now and it has served me pretty well. Not great on macro, but I have gotten a lot of nice 'luck' shots with it. I can't personally recommended anything because I haven't been in the market for a new digital camera for a long time, but I do know...

    Snakes near eachother?

As long as you're careful not to let them get within eachother's striking distance, you won't have anything to worry about. I have my jungle carpet and my kingsnake in cages next to eachother and they don't even care to notice eachother, so, just use caution if they are both out at the same...

    White's treefrogs

We carry those at the pet store I work at...they're great frogs. Very hardy, big eaters, and handle well. Overall one of the best pet frogs you can get imo The way they are kept in the store is on coco fiber bedding with a large water dish and a tree decoration. They're fed crickets about 3x a...
