Hi
I have bought my first L. parahybana. Its a tiny fellow still and first time Ive bought a sling.
Any extra advice on how to care of this fellow and have him grow, that you have learned yourself on the way, is highly appreciated.
Earlier Ts vary from this one.
B. smithi.

Oh dont worry, its not too small. Just happened to be in his corner and the view is blocked by a piece of driftwood and then the edges of the tank. He has a toooo high habitat tho and i was looking for my b. smithis old one yesterday but couldnt find it so imma buy a new one for this guy. Atm he...
I´ve got an Exo Terra tank that is currently habitated by my B. vagans.
Howevere I will search the garage for my old B. smithis tank since this one was ment for the arboreal I had back then... So far so good since I bought him in pre-molt and he was all calm and sluggish but now he has molted...
Im not a big fan of handling (nor poking and disturbing) my spiders so yah, it would be left alone minus for feeding, maintenance and me sneeking a peak every now and then ;)
Ppl seem to have a whole lot of problem with their blondies molting tho and it would be that little problem that makes...
Id like to know how your personal experience of a T. blondi has been or is still.
I am always having my eyes open for T´s but unfortunatly it took me several stops to petshops before I now came across our B. vagans.
Usually there are only G. roseas in there and those wont ever come into my...
Hmn - my cam didnt play well today. This was the best one I could get... the skin was all sticky and didnt wanna cooperate at all and my camera seems to be on vaccation ;)
And... he did loose one leg in the process... poor guy!
Hope the next molt will work better... never had a moltproblem...
Thanks!
Yes, I remember that with my B. smithi I also used to have a lookout for when the fangs got darker, but didnt really remember how long it took. But then I know now I will wait about a week and see how he looks and see if he is up for some food. =) Poor guy hasnt eaten at all since I...
Sorry for your loss!
I had an A. avic some years back that never ever cared to eat and struggled hard. I was lucky the days he drank some water from what I had sprayed, he never went to the bowl... He was very small tho, body like a big thumbnail.
(And soon after I had to watch the very same...
About two weeks ago I bought a Brachypelma Vagans, and he never cared to eat. I saw on his abdomen that it was darker than normal and suspected an upcomming molt and today he is finally laying there on his back and has almost finished his work!
It has passed some years since my B. smithi...
Ok - So that was me some years back. Im now both older and more mature and instead of the B. smithi its now a B. vagans. My smithi molted male and died by starvation since he no longer cared to feed. Poor little fellow.
My vagans is new, one day old in my house but I hope to spend many more...
Thanks a lot for your responses...
I will see what I can do when it comes to finding a breeder either here or in Sweden but if Im w/o luck I will keep him. Gonna be a bit tricky lowering the temp now when summer is comming though but I will find a way, I have to!
That's comforting knowing we're headed for summer here in Spain now...
I have one room that's on the cooler side though but out there I won't be able to 'enjoy' him... This sucks big time! Why did she have to go sexchanging on me for... *sigh*
Guess I will have to talk to my husband when...
Hmm... I am just a bit confused atm and I feel like Im not ready to part from him yet. But if it is like you said, that he will try to escape all the time etc it doesnt feel good either. Problem is I dont know any T-keeper nor T-breeder here in Spain and I dont know how to find one either. Damn...
Today I started a thread regarding the 'bad molt' my B.smithi female had.
Well, after one response and a quick peek from my side I found out that my she has turned in to a mature male.
So, how long can I expect him to live and what can I do to make him live longer...?
