I haven't tried looking for scorps but I have found some good size S. polymorpha centipedes in the rocks along the American River. Now you have me curious... By the way, the river is really high and dangerous this year so stay safe :-)
I'd recommend "The Biology of Scorpions" by Gary A. Polis. even though it is on the more scientific side he writes very plainly. my older brother checked out a copy for me to browse from the library at his university and everything i read from it i had no trouble understanding. the other books...
i'm not sure if the cold or uv is worse for them? the UV is like an on going mild microwave in a way. i've left my scorps home without heat for a week before without any heat and while i was away the weather turned pretty cold. it got to about 72 degree F in my house. all were fine after i...
the vibrating is juddering. they are communicating/mating/stuff like that. u need to take out the blacklight tho. it will kill your scorps.

mine tries to bite me every chance it gets, i think tokays are pretty good biters too. every gecko i've held, including the ones i caught at night in hawaii have all bit, or tried to bite me. i don't think leos bite very much tho do they?:confused:
i'll give a fourth vote for a kenyan sand boa, they're my fav snake and would be my first choice but my mom forbids me from having any serpents in the house so...bummer:(
well can anyone give me an idea what other vitamins i need to have in a second dust? this dust has: calcium, vitamin D3, manganese, zinc, iron, copper, iodine, cobalt, magnesium, and selenium.:confused:
yeah, this was the sort of thing i was talking about. i've been to a few bee exhibits that used one of these sort of dots to mark the queen so people could spot the queen easier among the other bees.
i would think that any non-toxic dot on the prosoma away from the eyes or anything wouldn't hurt but i'm not sure and i've never tried...i'd definately use something non-toxic tho because u don't want both to die in the case of cannibalism. but then what if 2+ molt at the same time?:}
i really want a whipscorpion. they're way sweet! i'm afraid my room gets too hot in the summer for them tho so i've never gotten one and i doubt i will:(
thnx for the quick reponse :) i'll separate the crix then between my gecko and inverts. which already happened because i had a breakout from "death row" while i was at the pet store i discovered right after my last post:wall:
well, i went and got some cricket dust. is Miner-all good? i've never had to buy dust before so i don't really know.:) also, does anyone use dusted crix for inverts too? could it do any damage?
thx Socrates! that link was exactly the sort of thing i was looking for.:) I'm gonna boost the humidity in the tank as well. I hope his color comes back soon....i think it's a "he"?
@Mushroom Spore: thx for the wake up. i didn't realize alot of that stuff till u said it so "lovingly":) I feel...
no. it was a birthday present so i had no idea even what kind of gecko it was when i got it.:wall: i mist and keep humidity up and i have a heatpad on the back of the tank even though it doesn't use it but it's there if it needs heat. the substrate is ecoearth coco-bark. can u recommend any...
