Anyone ever use these for juvies/slings??

I think 1.49 / is a great price for a sturdy, washable, transparent container with lid ! Do they come in other sizes ?

Where to catch a praying mantis

Trey - I live in TN, outside of Knoxville. Fall is a great time to catch preying mantis, especially on a warm afternoon. I have seen them on a butterfly bush and other shrubs around the house. Also, if there are unmowed fields - like overgrown pastures near you, you are likely to find a...

    Cobalt blue Question

I'm with WindChaser. I have 21 T's and my cobalt is one of my least favorites - not that isn't strikingly beautiful - its just that I never see it. For that reason alone, I wouldn't recommend it for a first T. It is a nice addition to a collection, but doesn't really represent the interesting...

I envy you for being able to go hunting. Nice pics. I received two A. hentzii today, nice calm spiders. Lucky you

    can only have 6

I get a T for every pair of shoes my wife has ! Another vote for the GBB - great colors, nice display spider. I second the sentiment that you should get whatever makes you happy and disregard the rare/common criteria. A favorite in my collection is A. brocklehursti - attractive colors...

    ID me!

Not good enough to venture a guess... but they are great looking. Did you catch them in cozymel, acquire them from some outlet?

    Just got my feeder roaches...

Have been doin the cricket and mealworm thing for several years. Got tired of the smell of crickets and decided I would try feeder roaches. Ordered 200 lobsters from Blaberus. Here's the question(s): how the crap do you catch the little beasts. They run like the wind. And do any of your T's...

Brachymad - love your setup. You take the concept of 'display animal' to new heights.

    B. auratum on the wall

Thanks for the responses. I will allow the substrate to become very dry and see if this helps. If it doesn't, I'll chock it up to behavioral diversity !

    B. auratum on the wall

Quick question for anyone who has kept this species before. Mine virtually 'lives' on the side of the kritter keeper. The substrate is a mixture of potting soil and vermiculite. Is this indicative that she doesn't like the substrate, or is this just a species/individual ideosyncracy?

Hope you're speaking strictly about T's here :8o

    Lividum and Water Dish

Wicked - the semi-suspended waterdish sounds like an excellent idea When I introduced my cobalt to her new home, I provided a 16oz deli cup partly submerged as a hide. 'She' quickly took to it and transformed it into her private retreat. I since have no problems with maintenance - but at the...

    Spiderling Info

Ordering crickets... Please excuse the change in topic... I have been ordering crickets and mealworms from www.southerncricket.com for several years - always been pleased with the quality and service. Not sure where you're at, but you might want to give them a try.

    Cricket invasion in the house?

Crickets eggs need to be deposited in a moist, warm place to hatch successfully. We find an occassional stray hopping about, but that's never really been a problem (for me).

    Does anyone keep other spiders

Thanks all, for the responses, especially the nice pics. Perhaps we can trade our native species and expand our collections !
