    C. Sculpts and the issues of a sting with young children.

I spray, hunt them and everything else. Every once in a while I find them in the house. It's called life in the desert. I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this extreme reaction to them stinging small/young children. Now on the dry stings, I've had dry stings and wet stings from...

    C. Sculpts and the issues of a sting with young children.

Okay, I've logged back in here just to discuss this topic. I have been stung many times by C. Sculpts. My daughter was stung when she was 3 by one. They live here and are wild, no stings from critters in enclosures. I have spoken to two different parents in Las Vegas (amongst many other...

    Black Widow!

    C. Sculpts will climb water spots. Above and beyond that, I find you reply amusing. Thank you Oh, and I did just reread it, you said that due to you being such an experienced keeper you do not use lids or something of the like, you did however suggest that the OP uses a lid. I will correct...

    Black Widow!

I've never had one escape, ever. Always have a lid on, never suggest to any one that it's okay to not have it secure. Misting will cause water spots. Widows will attach webbing to it. Suggesting to not have a lid on any enclosure is a very odd and unsafe practice. If you do it, yay for you...

    Black Widow!

My young widows take down crickets more then twice their size! Also, I've moved to using a large plastic kite box for my widows :) You can make a neater display, open the top and bottom for cleaning (crickets can smell really bad if left for a long time), so having a bottom opening is really...

    Black Widow!

I'd suggest that you don't keep it. Let it go. You have a female, which means odds are she'll have an egg sac. You really don't want to deal with hundreds of baby widows. Let it go and enjoy watching it run wild. However if you do keep it (which I don't suggest you do), a pickle jar with...

    handling widow & recluse

That's a lot of great information. I'll reread it in the morning. I'd like to find out more on antihistamines and venom... gives me lots to read up on. great info, thank you.

    handling widow & recluse

Nah, I wouldn't go in. It wasn't all that bad. I didn't know that about antihistamines... something to read up on (If I had known that, don't think I would have taken them). And the pain pills are for my feet, had surgery on both of them when I was 18, screws in them make them very sensitive...

    handling widow & recluse

No, they said to wash it, which I already had. Was also told to watch for infection. The pain was not so over whelming that I felt a need to go in for treatment. The Naproxen is something I take on a regular basis for pain, I'm very use to it and know what to expect from them. It was already...

    handling widow & recluse

Wasn't dry, I had a reaction. Just not what I expected. Could have been more of an allergic reaction then anything, and that wouldn't surprise me, I'm allergic to my T's and dog :/ The other two bites I had no reaction to what so ever. Edit: was thinking about it. The throbbing pain at the...

    handling widow & recluse

I got tagged last night by a local black widow. It's so not fun! Luckily I had taken a Naproxen an hour prior to the bite, and took two Benadryl following the bite. The dizzy/light headedness, nausea, throbbing pain & numb arm (on the lower arm where I had been bitten) all faded after about...

Bark Scorpion in my son's bed??? Pls help id this for me. Thanks.

I have to agree with this statement. When I first found scorpions in my yard I about died. Held my baby for three days, and cried the whole time. After that,I caught one, read up on them (and spent tons of time on this forum learning about them). Now I teach the neighbors and local cub...

Solifugae molted after over 7 weeks in premolt pose

I wasn't sure, but considered that she might be in premolt. So generally left her alone. She hadn't show any signs of death or drying out. About 7 or so weeks after she took this off pose of her legs sticking straight up in the air, my little Camel spider molted!! After which she dug a new...

    Centruroides sculpturatus

My 2 1/2 year old daughter got stung At 1:55pm this afternoon my daughter stepped on a wild C. Sculpt in my bed room(it was an adult, didn't sex it). She screamed and fell to the ground holding her right heel. I saw the scorpion run away from her. I scooped her up, ran to the car and started...

    Three Inch Sunspider/Camel Spider/Windscorpion: 13 sec. Video

I had one that size  But for some reason I can't keep a males alive?? (but my female is doing great!!) I have a friend that catches them in her home here in Las Vegas, and she's seen a few that are insanely large. Based on her description, it was well over 5in long (compared to her hand).
