Hey guys. I'm wondering if there's a way to search for members based on regional location. I live in Lafayette, Louisiana and am trying to see if there's anyone close to me that's in the hobby. Thanks guys and any help will do...
I thought I was lucky with my lil 1.5 inch OBT because he had built a very intricate tunnel web on top of the substrate under a piece of bark he has in there. I could always see him through his web or perched on top of the wood his web is under. Woke this morning to him beginning to dig a hole...
So I've been considering a Dubia colony but though maybe I didn't have enough Ts to make this plausible. So I'm at the LPS today: petco in Lafayette, La buying some crickets. The guy working ask me what I'm feeding. I told him tarantulas. He pretended to know about them and ask what kind i had...
I've hard of peple keeping some aboreal Ts with no substrate at all. Although I'm not too sure if this is a good idea as far as humidity goes and the increased humidity that a damp substrate can achieve. Maybe check in to seeing if the moss damp can help with humidity and not mold... Just my $.02
As far as the webbing goes it kinda depends. If opening only messes up a little of the web it's ok the T will build it back. If this bothers you and your decor is easy to rearrange to prevent this this then try that. I have found with my Avic, after destroying the web a few times trying to open...
Thanks blix, you know, people like you really have a way of making new members feel welcome.
But to the OP, try doing a search on "Rosea Burrow" you will get some good threads on people opinions and experiences with Rosea's that burow and ones that don't.
OBT - I love mine. Great webbing good appetite and crazy personality.
H Gigas - Cool water enclosures as per Robc?
P Metallica - Duhh......
Just my opinions
Looks like my lil versi sling is soon to molt as well. It has lost some hair on it's abdomen which seems to be rather big.. But it ate a couple days ago so who knows. Just starting to look different to me, but then again maybe that's due to the many hours of just watching it do nothig but web...
Ditto on the last post, slings can be pretty unpredictable. Don't get yourself down. How did it look when you found it? Death curl? Upside down? Just wondering...
I forgot... My Versi sling is a lil bad ass too. The last feeding, I dropped him in a cricket that was slightly bigger than him and didn't realize it, before I could get it out, he smoked it... Big attitude for such a small guy.
New home? Is the OBTs enclosure a new one? If so, he/she may just take some time to adjust. If it is new, give some time to web up, make a burrow etc etc and claim the territory, then try to pet him while he is in there. Might be a different story...
I have a job if that's what you, who don't know me, are tryig to get at. And it's not about the money, it's about the scarcity of these in the hobby and people selling 1/2" slings for almost 2 bones. If I were doing this for money I wouldn't call it a hobby but a job. Hah the time it would take...
