Poor little thing!
I only know 2nd hand stuff I pick up reading about Balls, but I would worry that if he's not comfortable with it he may easily fall back into neglecting it. Not really to be a bad person or whatever, just kind of human nature.
Either way you go good for you for helping...
I knew I was in trouble when every time I saw a plastic container of some sort I tried to figure out if it would make a good home for a T. When buying different food items I'd actually stop and think about if the container could be re-used. "Oh this little container this type of lunchmeat...
Don't panic too much about it not moving, sometimes tarantulas just do that. Almost everyone has had one that just decided it didn't feel like moving for days or even weeks at a time.
As long as it's little feet are visable, and not all curled up under him then he's probably just freaked out.
I'm get pretty nervous about my 3" OBT, mostly just because they're so fast. But I knew I would be and put her right into a 10 gallon so I'll never have to rehouse her. It's probably too big, but she has her burrow and it's like having a trap door spider when I drop a cricket near the opening...
I've had mine for about a year and for most of that I've only known it's alive because it's spit out 2 molts. She's probably about 5" or so and even flooding her tunnel didn't make her come out.
I've been thinking about rehousing her as the 1gallon container is probably too small, but god...
I got one of these about a year ago and while Ken asked not to tell anyone exactly what's in it I will say it was a GREAT deal with some awesome spiders. I'd 100% reccomend anyone do it.
So cute!
If you don't want to keep a humid hide in there you should be fine just putting one in when he looks about ready to shed. Usually for at least a day before you'll be able to see that he's lighter and getting ready for one. Just put the hide in then and take it back out when he's...
Leo's are great, I have 3 and I love them to death. They have a lot of personality, do well with handling and have the goofiest faces.
They're pretty easy. I keep mine on paper towels with an under tank heater on one side. They'll pick a side to poop on regularly, so it's easy to put an...
The best part is they make it sound like a T. Blondi can fall from the sky and land on you. Yep, the largest spider in the world, who can burst and get killed by even a short fall is going to land on you.
They tend to freak out after a move. It'll probably be frozen on a spot on the wall for a few days at least before it decides to web things up and get comfy. All normal and nothing you can speed up.
With Avics every communial thread I've read ended in one fat spider. Don't house them...
I got one a few months ago, she's probably 3"? I say probably because she came out of her burrow once and now is a pet hole. Sometimes I see her all pushed up against the glass at the entrance, but she has a whole network of tunnels that she hangs out in.
I guess it's just something they...
It's a shame. Is there anyone in the area who can talk to people about getting the T's at least homes? I have no idea how it could happen, but I'm sure if the tarantulas were offered they would go fast considering people in the hobby tend to keep LOTS.
