    christian santoro from germany

A lot of people are looking for this guy (including me). He seems to bait people by sending them the first order then when you place a second (and bigger) order, he disappears after getting your money. There have been numerous post from people looking for him in the BTS bulletin board. It seems...

the pros and cons of the use of roaches over crickets...

Biggest problem with crickets: They tend to eat the T or scorp if they moult while a cricket is in the enclosure. I am switching to roaches (just got 100 lateralis and dubia last week) and I think it would be much better than the crickets.

    Hysterocrates hercules

I just received 2 H.hercules slings from germany, too young to tell if they will end up as gigas, crassipes or ederi. I've had crassipes and gigas so it would be fun to watch them grow into something else.

I agree, I often see this fluid about a day after my tarantulas ate a meal. specially if it is a large meal. I even see this in my slings and juvenile tarantuals. they usuall y hang on the side of the enclosure.

    Brachypelma albopilosum

my B.albopilosum grows twice as fast as my g.aureostriata. I would say they are the fastest growing brachys I have, almost the same as my vagans. (I have a few auratum, boehmei, smithi, ruhnaui, vagans, emilia)

What kind of information would you like to see displayed in a "T Museum"?

As we are addressing people who know nothing or very little about tarantulas, I would think of the following: -Difference between a tarantula and other spiders, (like why they dont weave webs, etc.) -different kinds of tarantulas (old world vs. new world) -their habitat in the wild (arboreal...

Would it be bad to dig up a Borrow???

my seemanis' usually seal itself in thier burrow for a month when they go into premoult and comes out after moulting. they stay outside the rest of the time and will only burrow again when they are ready to moult. Dont dig up the burrow, it will stress them out.

    what to do?

If you must use mealworms and dont want to drop them in the burrow opening? put a small delicup in the substrate near the burrow entrance, sink it in the substrate so that the top lip of the cup is level with the substrate, put a few mealworms in the deli cup. The T will find the mealworms in...

can ground coffee be used as a substrate?

Just to give everyone an idea on the Coco peat we can get here, it is actually grounded dried coconut husk. It is grounded to an almost powdery consistency and then dried out, sterilised and vacuum packed. A small block the size of a brick, when hydrated, will yield approximately more than half...

can ground coffee be used as a substrate?

I'm glad some people found something positive from this experiment while some even found it amusing. Oh and all dumb, stupid, flaming, etc remarks were not taken personally so no harm done here (except to the cricket) But as I have said weeks ago, this experiment has been terminated with...

Should I buy an OBT or Regalis

he he he of course you will prefer the regalis, you are biased towards arboreals.... I will take both, maybe you can talk to the owner and get a good price for both T's just to get his hands off them ( and to get rid of inventory sitting for 6 months). If I can get my hands on only one, I'd...

    H.lividum question

I used to have 8 H.lividiums from subadult to adult sizes. Some were kept in 5 gal tanks filled from halfway (4 inches) all the way up to the brim with coco peat, others I tried keeping in just 1.5 inches of substrate. My observations regardless of size and age: Those kept in 4 inches of...

Are N coloratovillosus usually extremely defensive

my female is about 7 inches now, when I open her enclosure, she usually runs to the hide. She only shows aggression when I remove the exuvium when she moults. My keeper cleans the tank regularly and she has not yet shown any signs of aggression towards him, he even sometimes pushes her rear with...

Stuck in the molt because of web?

same thing happened to my S.calceatum (around 2.5 inches legspan). Some webbing wrapped around the space between the carapace and abdomen right after it moulted and it got tighter and tighter as it moved around. What I did was I held the webbing with forceps and sliced thru webbing very...

can ground coffee be used as a substrate?

Update There is still no molds in the UNOCCUPIED enclosure, its very humid here now since it has been raining for more than 12 straight hours but the coffee is getting damper by the hour. I think it is retaining moisture from the humid air. If it continues to exhibit this trait until tommorrow...
