My H. hottentotta popped 23 slings about a month ago. The moment they dropped off, i separated them. I used modified pillboxes as containment, each compartment floored with a bit of coco peat. It was all going well until they died out one by one, leaving only 4. I actually saw one dying, and i...
with all honesty, i approach my care for scorpions and tarantulas as scientifically and competently as i possibly can. yes i am quite short of experience, but i believe if everybody were passionate enough, nobody will have to worry about knowledge dying out.
which leads me to say: if the old...
1st count: 23 babies.

what am i doing wrong?? i separated the babies, i'm in the freaking tropics, and i still i end up losing every one of them??

need a bit of help..
Hey guys.. i was just wondering if you could give me a few tips on my H. hottentotta..
so i was gone for three days, and what should i find when i come home? she's got a bunch of kids popping out of her back, some of them still encased..
right now, they're all...
I need a few tips, i'm quite clueless..
yeah, speaking of hottentotta, i have one here.. so i was gone for three days, and what should i find when i come home? she's got a bunch of kids popping out of her back, some of them still encased..
right now, they're all squirming around already..so...
so why don't we all try and start something here? deciphering scientific names.. then we could all, maybe, agree on something acceptable for the species in question.. i hate hearing tityus meteundus being called peruvian parthogenic scorpion..
i also want to ask about h.hottentotta's molting...
hey guys.. my T just molted yesterday.. very, very beautiful. {D
thanks for all the help.. i got what i need for now. i'll be using this forum for years to come, i guess. :)
right, thanks..
well i got me a whole colony of dubias.. any tips on how to keep them from dying? because they do keep on dying, specially the young ones..the enclosure is, well, bad..3x3x5 inch plastic, no substrate..it's always moist, and i put a cardboard roll in there to serve as...
and thanks for the tip.. however i have another question.
i'm confused as to whether h. hottentotta is parthenogenic or not. what's the truth behind this? because i've read posts saying they kept male and female h.hottentotta and such..
i also have smaller dubia, like 1-inchers and less.. im concerned with the toughness of these things.. more than a week ago my tarantula ate a 1-inch dubia, but now it won't..
first and foremost, what are these things called? what are their common names?
and what conditions do they prefer?
i'd appreciate all the info i can get..or if you ca lead me to a pre-existing thread full of juice.. thanks..
did i mention i'm a total noob?
anyway, i purchased a 1-inch chaco golden knee.. love the color and shine on it..
enclosure is 2x4x5 inches, substrate's coco peat, has a water dish, and i live in a tropical country..
my problem is the shops around here are all superworms when it comes...
