My most expensive is my recent acquisition of a B. Smithi spiderling at $90.00 Canadian. She herself was worth about $30.00, having a damaged leg, but it was the import and shipping tax that upped the price. My whole "collection" of four stands at this:
B. Smithi - $90.00
A. Avic - $60.00...
Does anyone have any quick tips for properly sexing a tarantula? I'll be purchasing a 1.5-2 inch A. Avic pretty soon and I need to be absolutely sure of its sex. I've taken a good look and I'm about 75% sure it's a female, but I could be wrong, so does anyone have a great method for doing...
I handled one before in a pet shop, bare handed and all, and he was pretty calm. But then someone jostled me and he scurried off my hand and back into his burrow. They're pretty skittish most of the time, but they'll often run rather than kick hairs, from my experience anyways.
When you said T. Blondi I just started laughing. Those things, docile? They can get really grumpy and from what I've read, some have permanent attitude problems. =P
I posted this quite a wahile ago, but I appear to have misplaced the thread. I am interesting in purchasing a few more Tarantulas. I've compiled a list of interested types, anyone care to add any or tell me about them?
-Avicularia Avicularia
-B. Smith
-B. Emilia
I got rid of the other...
I'm looking to expand my tarantula keeping hobby and I am interested in acquiring some good tempered spiders, or the occassional evil one, whichever comes my way. I've got my eye on a pretty little Pink Toe that's coming into the local pet shop in the next month or so, but I want another...
Here's hoping he's not on his last legs yet, but he has been sliding down the glass, and normally he has an odd tendency to climb, but he's very comfortable. Just out of curiosity, should I change his substrate? I am using bone dry vermiculite.
Weirdest thing though. His pedipalps are most certainly not boxing glove shaped at all, he's way too small to be even fully mature, I've done some more research, males should be a good 4.5 - 5 inches when fully matured. After checking up on it again, and contacting the breeder, he has had a...
No! I just bought him and I am very attached to him! I don't want him to die, I love that little guy too much to let him go that easily. I just can't go buy another one, it's not fair. That damned place sold me a dying Tarantula, but he's too small to be going just yet, they're supposed to...
I got my first Rosea just over a couple months ago and I've been noticing some peculiar changes in his "physique". He's started developing very unusual hooks on his first pair of legs. I have read that these are "sex hooks" (or something along those lines), and that they only appear in the...
Where I work, there is a fellow who brings in images of his new tarantula all the time. Though it's nice to see someone with a keen interest, the substrate in which he keeps it on is very unusual. I've seen the tarantula on both bird seed and CEDAR! If I'm not mistaken, cedar is like a...
My niece is almost two years of age and she has already handled my Rosie, with no trouble at all (I know, massive risk). It's all in how early they are exposed to them. I was extremely arachnophobic, but they fascinated me at the same time. I am starting with one, then gradually collecting...
My Rosea is insane, so you're not alone. :) I wouldn't stop trying to feed her, but just go with what every one is telling you, just keep trying. Place a cricket in the enclosure, and remove it if it is not eaten after twenty four hours, then wait a day or two and try again. Rosea's would...
